Drive it like you stole it!

Ok the title is a little misleading but I'm just saying do you drive your cars like they are meant to be driven or are they just garage queens or daily beaters. For instance my current 350z is driven how its meant to be which is fast and enjoying carving up the twistys and if I get a 370z as planned I intend to do the same. My buddy has a wrx sti and drives the thing like an old lady talking about I just like how it looks, weirdo. Again not saying being wreckless or racing but just are you using your ride how its meant to be used? A garaged 370z or 350 is a travesty:driving:

Build it, Drive it, Drift it, Love it.... That's my motto!! :)

I can't stand when people garage their cars. My old boss at the Porsche place I used to work at has 2 RUF Speedsters sitting in his garage. He NEVER drives them. He's got one more that he does drive, (THANK GOD) but he drives his Ferrari 360 more since he doesn't care about it. :D

Ahh yes the guys who drive exotics you gotta love em, I know what you mean I see allot of that down where I live and the cars stay garaged just depreciating in value what a shame. I guess those guys just want the bragging rights of owning something expensive but really they should be out driving the crap out of those cars but oh well.

Slidefox 01-22-2009 12:14 AM

Exotics get driven here in AZ... How about drag racing a Bugatti Veryon down the street?

+1! If it's not burning, bending, or breaking, you're not pushing it hard enough.

You've gotta get your baby to let loose!
What's the point of all that power if your not going to use it?!
But make sure you have safe/popo free cruising roads!
If you see flashing lights in the back just keep on going and lose em.
If you don't, your ****** :D :driving:

I see it like this... If you don't drive it your just wasting money on both the maintenance, registration and insurance costs.. Not to mention that, just letting a car sit for long periods is pretty destructive to itself as well.

I agree with everyone else, cars are meant to be driven. ;)

There is no way to push a car to the limit on the street. If you guys want to see what your car is made of, and you as a driver as well, you should try HPDEs with NASA or the other car clubs out there. I've done it with my WRX, 350Z, and I can't wait to do it with my 370Z. It's an absolute blast!

Check out this video...

ll be the first to say I plan on garaging mine! It won't see rain, snow, salt, etc. I like to keep my rides pristine! I will have 4x4 used/beater SUV to be my DD. I plan on driving my Z like I mean it, but only when it is beautiful weather! In my opinion, I owned a 2007 350z as my DD and it was a travesty to have to see it be driven in the snow and rain! I have a friend with a 2003 Ford Mustang Saleen, he bought it brought brand new and after five years it only has 4,500 miles. He enjoys it, but he still keeps it in show room condition!

Sound advice to be sure I enjoy a good track day myself... But no worries man, everyone's just being a little sarcastic. ;)

I'm driving mine as much as I can whenever I can. It will be out in the rain (otherwise it would be out for two weeks a year on the Wet Coast ;). I'll cry after the first paint chip but its not gonna make me park it in the garage for the rest of the week. This is a performance vehicle and I'm going to get the most out of it as I can. Don't get me wrong I'm going to take care of it and it won't be thrashed upon but I'm not going to baby it. I'm buying this car for me. I don't care if other people like it or not - its the car I want. I'm not trying to change my image with my car - just change my daily driving enjoyment ;) Ride it hard and put it away wet I say.....

<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" images="" smilies="" redface.gif="" border="0" alt="" title="Embarrassment" smilieid="2" class="inlineimg"></o:smarttagtype>The problem with most people “driving like they stole it” is that far too many drivers have overly inflated opinions of their driving ability - most drivers reach the limits of their driving abilities long before they reach the limits of their vehicle’s ability.

There really isn’t anything heroic about driving significantly over the posted speed limit or weaving in/out of traffic just so that you can get to where you are going 15 seconds earlier…likewise with “beating” some other jerk/adolescent in a street race.

<o></o>I absolutely agree that there isn’t much point to owning a vehicle just to let it sit in a garage but that doesn’t mean you have to take a vehicle out in all kinds of weather and/or thrash it around public streets to “enjoy” it.

You can drive “spiritedly” without being an idiot about it but if you really want to test your and your vehicle’s limits and your own, take it to the track! :)

I think they were called San Cervates but I can't be sure. My buddy works for mark taylor corporate and I was there when barely one building was up so he let me crash for a couple of months. What a small world huh!

I know exactly where you lived!!! I'm one block south of there just off of Frye. Small world!

Great video! My car is garaged at my house of course. But I drive my cars, hard. That's one of the reasons I get rid of them before the warranty is up!
