Bunch of questions!

Dear Members,

I have a few questions to ask you. I did a search and got some of my answers (my list of questions was much longer!!)

1) Does the 370Z have a rear Fog light? Or is this something that users have added?

2) Does the NAV system that comes with the 370z have video inputs somewhere? If I want to plug a rear view camera to it, how would I do that?

3) Do you guys change the oil and the filter in the first 1000 miles?

I am in the process of finalizing a deal on a 370z, if it goes through, I will post my experience, price, etc.

USDM version has a fake one but a real one can be added in.

It does have video inputs, not sure about the camera part.

3) Do you guys change the oil and the filter in the first 1000 miles?

It's a good idea to do so!

The fog light seems like a cool add-on but it think it looks too bright ( as seen in pictures)

I have no clue about the Navi so I can't help.......

And YES...whether getting your oil changed at 1k the first time around seems like a good thing if others say so, but I waited for the 3k (still drives perfectly after 10k). It would be cheaper to change the oil yourself...taking it to my dealer costs $89!

I have 2 FREE oil changes and I'm planning on using even that the stealership I got the car from is about 35 miles away. Plus I have a free Mobil 1 oil change from a friend of mine that owns a shop.

Some people get an oil change done at 1K just cause the engine is new and all. Then they go back to the regular maintenance schedule. Get rid of the metal shavings from the break in.

Yes yes, thank you for the spoon feed. :shakes head:

I agree with the other post that the rear fog light is too bright. But you can dim it by adding the necessary resistor in series with the cable.

I also did see that camera DIY. But the problem is that it isn't for the Nissan NAV but a different audio/video system.

1. US market 370Z does not come with a working fog light. There is a black plastic cover. As papo posted, you can changed it for a functional one. There is a full kit available that comes with foglight and harness kit. Very easy to do.

2. I do not have touring model. But I was told that touring model comes with A/V input. But this a/v input is inactive/disabled once you take the parking brake off. You can add back up cam with an aftermarket HU very easily. See the links papo posted. But if you're planning on adding back up cam to oem nav, read this thread http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ghlight=camera.

3. I changed mine at 2000 mile. but 1000-1200 is average for first oil change.

Sophia, the main purpose of the fog light is allow visibility in inclement weather (i.e FOG, heavy rain, snow/blizzard etc ). It's suppose to be brighter than the taillight.

AGREED. The 370Z takes a while to break in. Members have reported metal shavings even upto 6-7000 miles.

in reference to question 3, manual says break in period around 1800 miles, dealer recommended for me personally first oil change at 3750, I pulled the trigger at 3000

Manual should say 1200 miles but if you like you can do 1800. I only did up to 1100 miles and then all he** broke loose ! :driving:

Quote from Owner's Manual:

Quote:

Change intervals
The oil and oil filter change intervals for your
engine are based on the use of the specified
quality oils and filters. Oil and filter other than the
specified quality, or oil and filter change intervals
longer than recommended could reduce engine
life. Damage to engines caused by improper
maintenance or use of incorrect oil and filter
quality and/or viscosity is not covered by the
new NISSAN vehicle limited warranties.
Your engine was filled with a high quality engine
oil when it was built. You do not have to change
the oil before the first recommended change
interval.
Oil and filter change intervals depend
upon how you use your vehicle. Operation under
the following conditions may require more frequent oil and filter changes.
. repeated short distance driving at cold
outside temperatures,
. driving in dusty conditions,
. extensive idling,
. stop and go “rush hour” traffic,
Refer to the “NISSAN Service and Maintenance
Guide” for the maintenance schedule.
Just sayin'.

The AV input is under the armrest. Open up the armrest, lift out the cup holder plastic and it's right under it.
