What is Remote Windows Down

The 2010 Z equipment listings include "Remote Windows Down." This is in addition to key operated windows and presumably is not the basic power windows. It's listed for all models including the base. What is it? Do I have it on my '09 base?

nogoodname 02-06-2010 08:47 PM

If you press and hold the Unlock on the key fob. The windows roll down.

Red370 02-06-2010 09:22 PM

I thought it was the coolest thing of all time when one of my friends, also a z owner, showed me that nifty little trick, you can also roll them back up by inserting the key and holding it in the lock position.

nogoodname 02-06-2010 09:23 PM

If you buy a Kp Module. You could roll the windows back up with the key fob.

Well I'll be darned. Works just as you described. I'm surprised because I don't recall seeing it listed on the 2009 features roster (as it is on the 2010 features roster) and I
must have overlooked reading about it in the owner's manual. Nice feature---though I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a remote hatch open button on the fob. Thanks for the info.

nogoodname 02-06-2010 09:25 PM

I'm 100% sure it's in the 2009 model.

I rolled the windows up with the same button that took them down. What's the Kp module?

Really??... This is new to me. There's a KP Technologies module that allows you to roll the windows back up by pressing the lock button.

Really? I had a window half open today and I tried to roll it up with the fob. Didn't work, but maybe I should have tried another button (think I was holding 'lock').

That's not possible. The ONLY way you can remotely bring the windows up is if you take the key (open key) and twist + HOLD it in the key hole the same way you would lock it.

Yep! And the feature is on the 350Z as well.

AK370Z 02-06-2010 09:52 PM

Just corrected post 11. You actually twist and HOLD the same direction as you would lock it.

Here's a video

and thread where we discussed this.

OldGuy 02-06-2010 10:09 PM

My mistake. You are right. Holding the button only takes them down. It does not put them back up. It's late and I'm old...

yea good for hot summer days ... when u have solid black leather.. and u want it to be a bit cooler... man i want summer back...

spearfish25 02-07-2010 09:32 AM

Mmmmmmm summmmmer, mmmmmmmm.

Key works in both directions. Nice to know.

ChrisSlicks 02-07-2010 01:49 PM

Just be careful where you stick your key or you could remotely roll down your windows in the rain. Happened to me, not fun. Fortunately I caught it before the car got completely soaked.

TreeSemdyZee 02-07-2010 02:12 PM

I was working inside my house one day with my key fob in my pocket. I walked outside and my windows were rolled down. Oops.

That's happened to me a number of times with my DD SUV. It has a remote opening rear hatch. I have come out of my office a couple of tmes and the hatch is open. I've learned to take my keys out of my pocket when I sit at my desk. Last Friday though I didn't and it was raining. Someone else in the office came in and said your hatch is open. Thankfully I can also close it remotely.

OldGuy 02-07-2010 07:13 PM

How in the world can you close your hatch remotely? Wow...

Yep. My wife has the same feature on her minivan. It also has a button on the bottom of the door too so when you are unloading stuff all you have to do is push the button and the door closes. You can also use the fob or a button on the dash to close it.
