Car shut off while driving - wont start - periodically? codes posted
 

Hey all,

I had an odd one happen this past weekend. Track day - all day - no problem! Driving home, all of a sudden - it shut off just rolling with my cruise set but all the electronics stayed on.Tried starting and it just turned and turned no luck. Did a quick clear with my ecutek - got out and checked a few things...it started right up! 5 min later same thing again... and then no luck once again. got it towed home..ouch. In my garage it started right up lol. I have had the steering column recall done. my ecutek is pointing out a few codes to the steering column. just curious if anyone else has ran into this? starts up no problem sitting in my garage but cant really go drive it and try my luck until I figure this out a bit. These codes are in my ecutek log- my local dealer shrugged their shoulders for any help. Thanks for any help here.

a quick google shows the first code being related to a voltage issue. check and see if any terminals/grounds came loose from the trackday.

the others are referencing the steering lock. my two cents is to use the wrench method to get the steering column to unlock and remove the fuse.

I’m not sure how I missed it I searched all 3 codes. I’ve been on here over 10 years! I will do the bypass part - I wasn’t sure if the Nissan fix actually was the solution . I had just never seen it happen for people when they were driving? Thanks for the direction on the other code I obviously missed. The car is far from stock
I did a gtm stage 2 sc with all supporting mods about 2 years ago but haven’t had a single issue until this.

I do not know if anyone has had the issue while driving, but i know it can happen at any time. It happened to a friend of mine at the track in the paddock and we missed a session messing with it lol. (we got it unlocked)

I bought my car and when i checked here and found out it had that issue, i found the previous owner already removed the fuse. My mother's car had the issue but my dad and i did the wrench method and never told her about it. we just "fixed" it

Thanks for the quick response . I won’t have this shitty issue again I went and picked up a titan and looking a trailer now. Towing to the track it is! Just want to get it reliable for occasional driving lol I’ll do both things you mentioned and see what ecutek says.
