Steering Lock Warning Light Came On

2009 370z ... Yesterday the yellow KEY light came on while I was out and about. Came home and searched what the problem could be. Of course we all know what that problem could be BUT I had the steering lock replaced in 2017 so I am wondering can the replaced one be going bad ( haven't found anything on that being a problem ) or is it the key fob battery needs replacing or something else all together wrong

Can't hurt to change the key battery, but I suspect that would first manifest itself with non-working remote.

Change the battery in the fob.

I never seem to get a light. My hint is when pushing the button the door starts to get intermittent and then stops entirely.
