If the magnet comes off, it will just stick to the oil pan. Also, the oil temperature sensor is located on the block, and is well removed from the oil drain plug. The plug will not interfere with the temperature reading at the sensor. It may be that your sensor is going bad.

It appears you are stressing over nothing. Your engine is fine.

Alot can happen at 40K miles. Some members had their OEM CSC go out at 1K.

I'm just merely prepping the OP of what is to come :icon18:

OP, be advised, if you drive a manual, you may want to read up on the CSC issue thread and visit the ZSpeed site.

Just wait until it goes into limp diick mode, ice mode, fuel stave, or a blown rear diff bushing. He doesn't have to worry about the steering wheel lock.

Sure the car may be running 10°F hotter, and we can’t tell u why that’s happening.

Regardless tho, 200°F is not too hot for oil in any way. You have nothing to worry about. When you get closer to 240°F +, then let’s talk

You're overthinking it and stressing yourself out. The temp you have is fine.

Take your car to the dealer ASAP and demand for the service manager to take the car apart and figure out why it’s doing this. Have them check that the cams are camming, rods are rodding, pistons are pissing, exhaust is exhausting. Don’t take “no” for an answer and tell them you will keep climbing the corporate ladder until you get the answer to your satisfaction. Take your dash cam also like you did for the oil change. Keep us posted.

I will watch them do the oil change this time and inspect the area when they have it lifted. Something is up because even in colder temperatures outside it still reads 200.
