I worked in a detail shop for a while. Even though I did ok and learned a lot, I know we had PLENTY of short-term hires that were HORRIBLE, and would beat the ever living crap out of the cars they had. Worse yet, the dealership would find out, and not do anything.

Just take the car home and wash, wax, etc. yourself and you will be fine. One bad wash will not kill the car, but you can always ask them not to do certain things. My dealership was nice enough to do, my arrived, was checked then sat in the shop indoors for a day until I could pick it up.

just tell them not to detail it and that you will do it yourself. Do you get the dealer discount since its not the one you work for?

Tell them not to wash the car. Don't let them do anything to it. I didn't even accept the free tank of gas. Who knows what they do to these poor cars when they know most of the time they won't get caught.

Mine had been on the lot for awhile so when I bought it it had a couple hundred miles on it and I didnt get t he free wash I took it home washed it then clay bared the whole car. It felt like sand paper before that. The clay does wonders. I clayed my wifes jeep liberty that is 4 yrs old and it looks like its brand new again, it took out things that just wouldnt come out in a wash.
I would always clay a new car before you wax it. |
