I thought it was supposed to be easy!

Tried installing my new HPS intake tubes.

Started with Passenger side, and ended there original OEM.

It was like trying to light candles in the wind. :icon14:

I know I'm going to get a hundred replies about how it was simple and "I got mine in 30 min".

Just wasn't the case for me.

No matter how much I trimmed, how much I twisted, how many components I disconnected, it just was not sitting "un-collapsed or pushing on ir box.

May have trimmed the vent tube too much now.

Oh and those fancy HPS clamps? Well, it wouldn't fit around throttle body portion enough to show 1 thread on bolt so I could start clamp nut.

I've installed way more difficult things than this, but this was a fine test of my patience.

1 driver side BNIB, HPS intake and 4 clamps for sale. :shakes head::icon14::wtf2:

Just the Post-MAF tubes? How many components did you disconnect? It's a PITA to try to squeeze in just the intake tubes. I always remove the entire intake from the TBs forward and then put it together before dropping the entire assembly back in. Should make it a lot easier :twocents:

Check to make sure all the clamps are the same size. My Z1 CAI had two different clamp sizes. The TB clamp needs a larger diameter than the one used to connect to the filter housing.

Try frankensteining soft tubes from the K+N hot air kit into the front bumper cover with manually measured open element filters for a homemade CAI.

Yes. post maf.
I did just that. The little tube on the side was the issue. Also, tube itself was too long. I had to trim constantly a little at a time. Took a lot of trimming adjustments in and out.

From what I can see all same size. I will double check.

Obviously that makes sense. However, HPS does not provide any literature.

So I wasn't going crazy. Stupid clamps! :icon14:

Just checked and ALL same size (#64).

I'll call HPS, see what they can do.

I wasn't going to let this thing defeat me.

The driver side popped right in. I had to trim about 3/16" on breather (driver side) to allow clearance from the Ignition coil and tube and a little on oil filler cap.

I exercised the clamps before install and it hooked up better and with enough thread engagement.

Passenger side, as i mentioned before, was something else. I'm in discussion with HPS on this and they've been really good. I'll see what they suggest after pictures are sent. I think i trimmed about 1/8 too much on breather.

On a side note. I went for a drive. Came back and checked on things. I found these tubes to be extremely soft due to the heat.

I can help but to think about the amount of possible collapse.

Any videos or thoughts on this?

Thanks for the help .
