370Z Clutch question
I have A 40th anny model Number #865 JDM 2010 ,,
after 5 months I still can not get my body to match the clutch ..The pedal seams diffrent every time I drive it . I seam to either over rev or under rev . .Its very wack . .and seams worse with rev match turned off. The pedal stuck one day .it stayed about 1" down then came up with a bang . under the dash is like a spring and shock next to the clutch pedal I sprayed it up with some wd40 and that seamed to have fixed that cluctch doesnt seam to slip. and its not burning Im over 50 years old all my SSS Datsuns have been manual and my Old Z cars and my old Skylines even 1973 skyline couple was manual. I live in New Zealand , we had JDM cars for a long time . .even Prince motors cars. .Them S54 skylines aree quite cool .. . anyway whats the drift with the 370z clutch? ... My 350z is auto |
Clutch slave cylinder dying?
|
If the clutch pedal stuck to the floor. The clutch slave cylinder in the bell housing is failing. You can bleed it which might make it last a bit longer. When it fails completely. Get a C-MAK from Joe @ ZSpeed.
The clutch feel on the 370 has always been a bit different. You're not the first one to bitch about it. One member on here sells a replacement spring for that spring you seen under the dash. Then there is a replacement pedal assy that is adjustable for feel and travel. It's RJM. Alot of guys have switched to it. |
Pedal stuck up about 1 inch from top . .not on the floor

My 510SSS was way better to drive never had a problem ,. no computer Home made LZ24 with 55mm side drafts , , car weight was 840Kg with a full tank of avgas and me and my two kids sitting in the back . .
O I miss My 510 SSS (Street Screaming Specail) Clucth im my Mk1 Lotus Cortina was way better than the 370Z one .. what a fail it is |
is this why some cluctch kits come with new flywheel ?
something about a fuild flywheel ????????? You youngest son is a hard core drifter and nissan mechanic |
The oem flywheel is a dual mass flywheel. Most will replace it with a lightweight single piece flywheel when replacing the clutch. The drawback on this. There is some chatter in neutral.
The hydraulic cylinder (csc) that presses on the pressure plate is inside the bell housing. The dust off of the clutch disc will collect around the seal and wear it. You having a 2010. I imagine that there is some wearing going on. |
The clutch slave cylinder is a known failure point so you might as well swap it for one of the aftermarket solutions
As Rusty pointed out, the RJM pedal allows you to adjust the pedal position and stiffness And while you’re doing this, add a lightweight flywheel and better clutch A more Rev happy engine is transformative |

car has been in NZ about 5 months JDM import done 150,000Kms . its also a grade 4.5 import so its very much like a new car , just a few wee marks here and thier still has fuse for steering lock . When I took centre of dash aprt to fit a radio band expander . I saw a black box also wired in to head unit . I think its the hack to make the dvd player play discs while driving (as my Nissan Elgrand has it also ) I sopose best to just put up with it .. Im not into street racing so it dont really matter .. just bugs me .. |
