Dealership saying Uprev tune blocking Key fob reprogramming?

Need some help here. Have a 2011 370z, stillen SC, uprev tune from Church's. Lost main keyfob, spare keyfob that's been in my filing cabinet for 3 years doesn't seem to work anymore. Locksmith failed to reprogram. Towed to dealership, they can't program either, hypothesis from them is the custom tune is protected and preventing any changes to anything therefore blocking the key fob reprogram.

Anyone got knowledge on if this is BS or not? Church's doesn't open til tomorrow, hoping someone can shed light on it before then.

Really really really need someone who has had a key fob programmed while having uprev tune installed to reply. I can't be the first one in the history of uprev to need a key fob programmed right?

What did Shawn at Church's say?

Search shows that you are not the only one.

Thanks for doing a search for me. I have seen both of these threads, and unfortunately they're not applicable to my situation.

The first thread is a moron who flashed the wrong uprev rom for his car - my tune has been working for 7 years so I can rule that out.

The 2nd one ended up being a failed BCM module. My BCM module worked fine right before I lost the key, but since I'm at the dealer I've asked them to use Consult 3 to run a self diagnosis from the BCM. I assume it'll come back normal though.

He said a few things:

1) They have absolutely no records or backups and a 7 year old tune would be on an old laptop that was disposed of or failed and wouldn't be backed up anywhere (because they use 0 cloud storage, even now for their tunes. As an IT consultant, my god.. but run your biz how you wish i guess)

2) Because the tune is so old you can't modify it or reflash it anyway (confirmed by uprev, they apparently offer NO previous software versions for download, and no way to flash previous firmware version to the cable. As an IT consultant, again, my god..)

3) Suggested I try a 3rd party locksmith because apparently they never have a problem. I might have to ask him for a specific guy if he knows one, because the 2 dudes that tried to flash on my car couldn't get it to work.

4) He might be able to at least modify a g37 tune file to my rom so I can flash to stock then flash to that rom so I can at least have a car that runs until i get another custom tune. I'm right next to Stillen so I could also just get their stock SC kit tune as the same backup plan.

Anyone else around that can confirm they successfully programmed a keyfob while having uprev tune on the ECU? at dealership or a locksmith, either one.

Sunday bump before I get into a full on shouting fest with the service dude tomorrow to force them to do a BCM diagnostic in front of me because I can't trust them to do anything but BS me.

Updated pics from dealership attempt at BCM diag.. they can't even get that far. Errors from Consult 3 show ECU fails to connect, VIN readout unavailable, initialization of ECU unsuccessful, etc. Anyone seen this before?

Look on the right side of the screen near the top where it says "Welcome, *user name*." It's under Become a Forum Sponsor on the very top menu. There should be a link that says Private Messages. Click that.

You can also click the User CP link on the left side of the screen near the top. It is under the forum folder structure. Once in the user control panel, you can see the Private Message heading on the left menu.

Updates.. talked to ByThaBay on the phone, helpful info from him, thanks Eugene. He recommended trying a different locksmith with a different tool to see if they can get past it. No dice, we had the autopropad and autek tools, still ecu communication failure. Further info to add in case it jogs anyone else's memory of an issue:

1) The car constantly triple beeps when the driver door is open, regardless if the car is off, the key is out of the slot, etc. From my searching this usually means "car is in Acc mode instead of off" (it skips acc mode entirely so donno how that would be possible), or it's not in park - now it's in park, and i even did a few swaps back and forth to neutral in case, but I did see stuff on the internet about the possibility of it being in P and saying P on the dash but still thinking it's not in P. Would that stop ecu communication from Consult and Locksmith tools tho? Doubtful

2) When I had a steering lock issue in the past i used the mallet then cut the brown wire solution. I tested reconnecting the wire via a piece of wire i had available and the steering lock still doesn't lock though, so it's either seized in unlock position or the locksmith "unlock steering wheel" command is keeping it open still. I tested unpluging the connector entirely and it shut the entire car down from doing anything, so I feel like this isn't an issue. Wouldn't the consult be able to say "hey the steering wheel lock isn't working" if it was? Unlikely to be the issue i guess.

3)I'm considering buying a BCM, they're only about 185 at a nearby dealership, and swapping it out then asking them to try again and mate the new one to the ECU. I wish i could have someone who's an expert on this confirm that the BCM is the first line of communication to the ECU though. Why would consult have an "ECU communication failure" message when trying to get to BCM self diagnostics if it just talks directly to BCM?

4) Tempted to buy a used Uprev cable and see if it successfully connects to the ECU or not. Is there a possibility that Church's custom tune from 7 years ago completely blocks communication from any other tool? Unlikely but maybe? I wish stillen actually called me back, I've left them 3 ******* messages asking for help, they're on the same block as the car so I could borrow a cable from them or pay someone to walk over and test it out.
