370Z hatchback area comparison to a Z32, Z31 or 280ZX?

I've never really spent any time around a 350Z or 370Z. I own a Q60 which has a tiny trunk. I have heard that the 350/370 hatch area isn't much better.

For those who are familiar with something like a 280ZX, Z31 or Z32 (coupes, not 2+2's) how would the hatch area on those older cars compare to the newer 350/370?

I'm curious because the new Z is going to be basically the same.....I don't remember those older Z's being too small in the hatch area....but it's been a while since I owned them....

doesn't the Q60 have a back seat?
with the 370Z I have really never had a problem with what I wanted to put into it.
again my expectations are not that high...
cannot comment on the others.
thou, the 370z has a lot more space in the hatch then my 2016 MX-5, now that's a challenge...

I think the catch is that the hatch is not as vertically deep as some people may expect, so you become limited in what you can fit in the rearmost area. If you have the privacy cover, it limits that further.

You can technically fit a lot of small things and groceries.

FWIW, my 350Z had a Nissan diagram on the hatch demonstrating the proper - and only - way you could fit two golf bags in the trunk.

The 370Z has a bit more space but the vertical is challenging.

It just occurred to me that the Z34 and the upcoming Z35 do, in fact, have much less hatch area than what I recall the Z31 and Z32 having. I know this because the FM coupe platform sacrifices rear area space for a complex, large transverse (and excellent sounding) muffler. The G37 sedan and Q50 both have much larger trunks than the coupes because they have typical inline mufflers, and the Z31 and Z32 also had similar inline mufflers.

We used to do pretty elaborate and large subwoofer installs on those older Z's with no issues.

I have owned them all. The 370z trunk area is a little bit smaller than the older cars. It has never bothered me though.
