Truth about 370Z Curb Weight

Nissan's curb weight advertisement had been bothering me for awhile. On 370Z's debut, it was advertised 370Z to be a generally lighter than 350Z but the definition on their version of "curb weight" was never clear to me and always confused me why the 370Z seemed so heavy despite the official number.

TO cut to the point: I have a reason to believe the curb weight as suggested by Nissan is with all operating fluids and 25% or 1/4 tank of Fuel.

-My 2013 Nismo is suggested at 3,314lb. Car lossed ~90 lb of weight for track(both sprung and unsprung) and it still scaled(without driver) at a whopping 3,304 lb with full tank of gas.

-Another member mentioned that his 2013 base sport model with full tank of gas scaled at 3,361 lb. Nissan advertises 3272 lbs for 2013 sport+manual trans.

Bottom line, difference between 100% fuel and 25% tank ~ 88 lb. So Add 88lb to the advertised curb weight if you want to know the car's weight with full tank of gas.

Thanks

If you want to attempt the search. Back in 09, several members weighed their cars and they got around 3315 ish lbs when the Z was3232lbs in 09.

The extra 40 lbs over the years was attributed to the oil cooler & heated mirrors the following years ahead. But yes... you are accurate.

My car is a fatty. It has a lot of stuff, 4 roll bar etc. , in it but I believe that was made with out the spare and rear carpeting.

Yes the 370Z model has certainly gained weight over the years as Nissan trying to make improvements but not by much. Every gallon of gasoline adds weight and the oil cooler hardware as well. Actually if you have a coupe it’s not really to be considered that bad as far as actual curb weight is concerned. As it may be nice to drop the top but the 370Z Roadster is heavy and can afford to go on an immediate crash diet lol. Weight reduction on our cars can get expensive though. People how add stereo equipment to their Z add quite a bit of weight.

Yes, about 3/4 or 1/2 tank. No clue on the weight of the roll bar but it was Mild Steel so not light, ball park guess would be close to 100lbs?

My 2010 Nismo with FI TT, 3" exhaust, gutted rear hatch, four point roll bar, full tank and me in it weighed in at 3450. The roll bar about 60 to 70 lbs.

My car weighted around 3240lbs (it was 1460 kg) but it wasn't with a full tank of fuel, removed everything from the hatch, full spl arms, true type coilovers, z1 2p rotors, volk wheels, and oil/steering coolers. My car is 2010 fully equipped sport touring. Before true type coilovers, with full tank of gas it was 1500 kg, around 3306lbs (and I believe not having a full tank of gas was part of having less weight last time I corner balance the car). Unfortunately, I didn't weight the car when I got it.

I was surprised when I weighed her. I also had light weight rotors all around.

I can't wait to see what she weighs in at now that she is totally gutted, full cage, light wight battery and straight pipe exhaust.

As of April 2019 Weighed in at 3524lbs with full interior, minus the spare, plus 200lbs driver weight, and a full tank of gas. Stock passenger seat and racing bucket at the time, as well as the rpi car computer and screen setup. The stillen front bumper weighs more than stock, as well as the carbon/frp vented hood. The Aeromotions wing might weigh ever so slightly more than the stock spoiler as well, and I have the rear verus diffuser adding some weight.

The MD exhaust is definitely not light either.

edit: forgot about the gtmat in the trunk space lmao.
