You guys are acting like he broke down, or something. He was pissed, just like you would have been, had you scratched your Z. He didn't jump off a building.

As someone who has hydroplaned off the highway before, that "please don't hit the wall!" chant while you're sliding backwards sounded quite familiar.

well he is not really losing money as he will make a claim thru his insurance and that might raise it some but he is really only out the deductable. Now im sure Nissan has made sure they cancel his warrenty for tracking it.

Or failing Nissan, Audi might cancel it.

;)

or perhaps its the opposite. perhaps some guys become too attached to their cars after having bad experiences with girls. I know since i've been there.

Also, what's the deal. So the guy spun out on a track, heck some guys here spun out the z on the STREET! so he is a bit pissed at damaging his new car, who wouldn't be? who doesn't get pissed off if they drop a new blackberry or digital camera, or if a shopping cart dented their brand new car, even if its a camry or something.

shabarivas 01-19-2010 04:36 PM

a bit harsh arnt we? lets see how you react to slamming your Z into a tire wall...

He was driving on track for HPDE, which 95% of the insurance companies out there officially exclude. He would have to lie about where the crash took place, and with that amount of damage he would also have to file a police report and lie to them as well.

Bottom line is, if you are on track you are 100% responsible for any damage you may incur. At some events you may be able to purchase separate declared value track day insurance for a fee.

kannibul 01-19-2010 04:55 PM

Wow, should I be impressed with myself in that I knew exactly where he was going to lose it?

I could tell he hit that corner too hot, and didn't account for the elevation drop...

Well that sucks.... I would lie and say the road was icy and I wen toff the road and since no other car was involved and the car was still driveable I went home and filed with insurance.

Exactly. i cant believe some of the responses on here. Some of your guys are just a little over the top.

I'm saying that in good humor, not personally for anyone. Again, disclaimer: No offense to anyone, I'm just sayin'

This is how I feel, but apparently most of the people in this post disagree.

So how exactly would you have reacted to that? I mean come on KillerBee.

Exactly, and you could tell the inevitable was going to happen once he hit the grass to hot.

Is there a way to multi quote?

mick 01-19-2010 09:13 PM

at least he only did damage to his own car and not somebody else's car as well.

but wouldn't he still have to file a police report? in fact wouldnt this be considered a hit and run? over here, any accident has to be reported to the police if there is personal injury or the cumulative total damage to all property involved is greater than 500 bucks. and with the rates body shops charge, 500 bucks is about what it takes to eliminate a scratch or a couple of dents.

completely agree, this was not a bad wreck by any means in the scheme of things. I give him credit for taking a what, 100K+ car out on the track. An accident is exactly that, an ACCIDENT. If you can afford the r8, I seriously hope you can afford to fix this mistake. all I'm saying is kudos to him for enjoying his car, hopefully he can fix his mistake

Oklahoma has a "slick streets" deal where unless there's an injury, no police are dispatched to an accident. They say to go to a gas station and get the nessicary forms and file it yourself.

Good for track days, though you may have to wait for a major downpour/tornado like weather, or, snow on the ground.
