Issues to check before buying

I'm going to look at some MT base + sport Zs in the coming week or two. What are issues I should be on the lookout for?

One that comes to mind is the ECU/10khz noise... do I need to do anything special in order to "activate" it, if it's there?

Any other issues I should check for?

Thanks

NEVER had this issue.

it's there or not, just pay attention. mine is very slight but it's still noticeable. wouldn't have prevented me from buying even if i had known ahead of time.

inspect all the body panel seams, especially the bumpers against the fenders/quarters. some people have had chipping there.

inspect the length of the hatch springs too, they should be fairly long. seen here on the right vs the originals

my 370z does not have that high pitched noise, but the car i test drove before my car did. so just listen for it. you will hear it.

i would also recommend checking the front air spoiler to make sure the dealer didnt curb it into the tire stop (i saw this on 4 out of 10 Z's that were in my dealer's lot), and also check for any paint blemishes, check for any botched splash guard installs... anything that the dealer did, make sure you check their work.

Definatley check the springs, having issues constantly with it. Make sure the rims aren't dinted, and also make sure the dealership peels all the plastic off the interior panels. Mine didn't do a great job, didn't notice it till her first bath.... Took me a good hour to peel off properly!

Check the two holes the size of a quarter behind the front license plate holder on the bumper.

Not in Canada it doesn't. There are very small "pilot" holes there. You can hardly see them. (Great for those of us lucky enough to not have to put a front plate on our cars  )

Oh, I just thought of something else to watch out for. Tell the service guys not to take your new Z out for a joy-ride. I was disappointed to see my initial mileage rise from 4kms when it was unloaded off the truck to 28kms when I took delivery. (And don't accept the standard B.S. about "having" to test drive it for "safety" reasons.)

BTW, threat your salesman/dealer as your enemy. Don't be friendly and don't look to interested on the car even if you are dying for it.

They are there to make money of your azz! Don't believe that favorite quote" I'm losing money on this deal".

But my salesman said he was going to not eat if he sold me the car the price I quoted. :ugh2:
