My whole front clip (fenders, nose, and entire hood) plus the A pillars has been done (Ventureshield). Looks great (the film is perfectly clear), no-one has noticed that it's there, and I have no rock chips in the paint after over 8 months.

Do it - you won't regret it!

Hi VCuomo

Thanks for the reply and nice to hear a positive comment.

I have only owned my car a week and have not really used it. No stone chips yet and I will not use until I get it done...

again thanks ... :tiphat:

You're welcome! If you're here for a while and really use the site please consider becoming a premium member!

Also the sooner the better on the bra, the longer you wait the more chips and nicks you'll have in the paint and you'll easily see them through the bra.

My question concerning clear bra is... does it hold up well during washing? And how about waxing? Do these chemicals afftect the clear bra?

JSBZ 01-17-2010 09:19 AM

I had a clear bra (3M film) installed last summer. It is a neccessity here in Colorado. I had the entire front clip, mirrors, half the hood, pillars, lights and part of the front fenders covered.
I avoid waxing the film but I do use detail spray on it. So far no discoloration. I hand wash the car. The film does look weird (discolored) when viewed through polarized sunglasses.

but due time does it eventually start coming up on the edges? Is there a life time warranty on them or anything. cause I could picture it if it starts to raise up on the edges you'll have a line of dirt.. correct me if I am wrong. Or is that the least of my worries

I got Venture Shield last week, with about 450 miles on the Roadster and one tiny, invisible-to-everyone-but-me rock chip in the bumper. I'm quite happy with the install, overall. The product even completely hid my small chip.

The lines are not as invisible as I had thought they would be from certain angles, but the film itself is much more clear than I expected it to be. That is to say that, even with polarized sunglasses and in different light (sun, florescent, incandescent, etc.) there seems to be no noticeable color shift on my Platinum Graphite. I can detect a very slight orange peel effect in the material, compared to the raw finish of the car, but viewed from any distance further than about 6 inches, even that is imperceptible. Straight-on from the front, the clear bra is completely invisible. From the sides a small line is the only thing you'll see. It definitely beats the sand blast effect I got on my last car.

I got a half-hood, half fenders, full bumper and fang area and leading edge of the mirrors done for $450 at Executive Motoring in Houston. Workmanship is excellent, aside from one small bubble (about the diameter of a BB) in the left fender that I'm having them look at next week. The product and their installation work come with a warranty for the life of the car.

It's a no-brainer in a city like Houston, where concrete debris on the freeway is very common. I consider it among the most sensible money I will spend on this car.

Ive had a bunch of vehicles with a clear bra and none have had problems even after 5 years. The warranty is only as good as the installer.
