Vivid Racing vs VIS Racing

I have a quick question, I’m thinking about ordering a carbon parts and I’m not sure if I should order from Vivid Racing or VIS Racing. Thanks.

Don't buy from Vivid. The owner is a crook.

Dan Mermelstein is a special type of scumbag. He's been ripping off customers for years. Double charges, extra fees, lying customer service reps, etc. Porsche, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Nissan guys and more. They make tremendous efforts to squash any public complaints and they completely ignore any complaints they can't control.

Hmmm.....I was about to pull the trigger on PPE headers a while back and I was looking at a price directly on their website while I was talking to an associate of theirs on the phone at the same time I was looking at the price and the associate quoted me a much higher price. I called him on it and he changed his story and started back peddling.

I thought it was an honest mistake on his part..............guess not. sketchy!

I'm not sure he owns or runs the company anymore. I have heard those stories and they are from over a decade ago. Vivid did me a solid on my Fugimura hood by letting my brother pick it up at the port so I did not have to pay duty fees or tax. I also bought my Sarco racing seat, harness and Wavetrac rear diff from them with no issues. The shop was near my brother's house in Gilbert and I went over and met the sale guy at the shop. I was going to buy a Status race seat but he told me no because the quality of the seat was not good and they were in the middle of R&D to fix the issues. I would not hesitate to give them a go. They just seem to be on the high side of the price range these days.

I've ordered a couple things from Vivid for a cumulative ~$150, no issues.

VIS hoods and body kits are average quality. Not on the same level as JDM hoods or kits. Usually you pay for what you get. Most people are OK with paying less for lower quality. Some will only by the best and pay accordingly for it.

That makes sense. You don't hear much about them anymore...

I tryed to purchase a Fugimura hood before from Vivid Racing and they attempted to over charge me on the purchase of this hood. Paying shipping and tax on this hood was no deal. I ended up getting hood vents for the track duty. I have not dealt with VIS Racing before. My advice would be to shop around.

vivid racing has always had higher prices than z1 or CZP, knowing that he is a crook its a good thing I never bought anything from them. I have VIS hood that its been holding up really well and i havent install hood pins yet. I also have Seibon spoiler thats been holding up well.

Ok thank you all for the fast replies and the info. I’ll go ahead and order from VIS Racing then instead of vivid. I’ve had my eye on that AMS hood and a few other things that both the websites had for similar prices so I had no idea which one to choose from.
