Buy your own oil, take it to jiffy lube and have them fill er up, if you go with Royal Purple, Mobil 1, Redline etc. Total should be around $60 :)

yeah. when i bought my car the sales man warned me the cost for changing oil but i told him my previous car was a mercedes and the mercedes dealer charged $250 for an oil change.

I had a 2004 350Z and a 2005 G35 Coupe before I got the 370Z, and I must say, none of them ever had any problem...I don't recall ever having to take my 350Z or G35c in for warranty work...there were problems with the cluth on the 2003/04, but I never had problem with mine..eventhough there were problems, they were all covered under warranty...I think there was a problem with the 6MT tranny with the 2003s and some 2004s, but that was covered under warranty and they caught that right away (just like the tire feathering issue) and replaced all the affected vehicles....I did get a buddy of mine to replace my tranny and clutch for me just for the hell of getting a new tranny and clutch after 30k miles...hehehehe...he wrote it up as a claim and I got new tranny/clutch for free..hehehe....

well, I guess there's one small problem with the 350Z that I don't know who to blame on...and that the car just don't stay intact when getting split by a tree...but don't let this discourage you from buying a Z...case in point:

I was thinking about going somewhere else for the oil change but I figured I only get that done every 6 months or so and plus the maintenance is in Nissan records. So screw it, but thanks for that info!

I have had mine since October of 09 and no problems so far. The original owner who I bought it from had no problems with it either. My oil changes cost about $80 b/c I use the good stuff, Royal Purple.

I think if you don't mod up your ride too much, you'll have a very reliable Z. I have a friend who has a suped up 350z and he has problems with it all the time.

Every 6months? Is that ok to do on a 370z?

depends on the driver. if you baby the car it will last for a very long time.

Oil are expensive when using high end synthetic oils. I wouldn't pay 90 for the stuff Nissan uses. But 60 to 80 for some quality Motul synthetic a filter and labor is reasonable.

Yep, unless you're putting on a helluva lot of miles.

Because...its the dealership?

Good Redline stuff, you're lucky to find for $9-10 a quart...

Thats was just an approximate. I've had the car for a year and just got my 3rd oil change..ok..so realistically, I get oil changed every 4 months. So, $270 a year at Nissan. Thats not that big of a deal to me... my bulldogs cost me double that amount per MONTH haha..well that not really funny

I have about 6500 miles on my 09 370z its in the shop now and it was diagnosed to be a bad steering wheel lock. the intelligent key warning light went on and i couldnt start the car. had to be towed to the dealership. before that i had to take my car to the dealer for a grinding noise. after i would drive the car and get it up to temp turn it off then start it right back up a few seconds later it would make a grinding noise on startup.. dealer said it was the starter and that was replaced but my car still does it. But only when its extremely cold out below 30 degrees and only after i had just driven the car.

If i drive the car and wait a minute before starting it back up everything is normal.. Other than thos 2 things the car runs great no other issues..

Well, why does it require such expensive oil? I mean, my RSX redlines at a high RPM, is a high-revving engine and an oil change is just $30 at the dealer. I'm sure the oil doesn't cost $9-10 a quart--why would the 370 engine need something so special ?

Well it depends on what you mean by reliable. I will say that my experience with 280z and zx is that they are extremely reliable from a drivetrain standpoint. Really no one is going to be able to tell you about the 370, although you could extrapolate from the 350 perhaps. It also depends on what timeframe you are considering.
