Compliance Plate replacement - OZ model

I'm not sure if there is already a thread, so apologies if it's been covered before.

My Z got dented by a careless driver on a shopping centre car-park - ouch!

The dent was on the rear quarter panel behind driver's door.

Smash repair was able to repair the damage without replacing the panel. However, he mentioned that if he had to replace the panel then the Compliance plates would be lost when the panel was cut out. They can be pealed off but they tear making them void.

Here's the rub, apparently Nissan will not resupply replacement compliance plates. They will only provide a letter of compliance, and the plates are voided. Try selling your car and explaining that to a would be purchaser.

I've no idea what a compliance plate is and what it would be doing on your driver's rear quarter panel. But thankfully there is this interweb thing.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...s_nov_2007.pdf

From the above document:

"In certain cases, a vehicle without a compliance plate may be registered if the vehicle has been shown
by a letter of compliance to meet all applicable Australian Design Rules. A letter of compliance is a
statement from the manufacturer indicating that the vehicle complies with the Australian Design Rules
applicable at the time of the vehicles’ manufacture. A letter of compliance can only be issued by an
authorised representative of the manufacturer."
