I was today years old when I found out...

That the little button under the door handle on the outside of the car locks and unlocks the doors so long as the fob is on you!

Had no idea it was a button till I pressed it on accident and heard the doors lock! I was like oh isn’t that handy after two years of ownership lmao.

37zeroZ 12-08-2019 06:02 PM

I was yesterday years old when I found out.

Spooler 12-08-2019 06:08 PM

I love that feature. I never take the key fob out of my pocket. Same thing with my old Maxima.

i wasn't born yet, what button are we talking about on under the door handle?

vtec to vvel 12-09-2019 02:10 PM

You don’t say. I’m gonna go try it!

chowtoo 12-10-2019 12:26 PM

The only reason I knew about this feature was that I have a 2013 Honda Accord that has a similar button. Additionally, the Honda will automatically read your fob and open the door as you get within about two feet of it.

There is a lock/unlock button by the hatch release also.

SouthArk370Z 12-10-2019 01:33 PM

If you didn't get an Owner's Manual with your Z, you can download a PDF from Nissan's web site.

MZ DAIZY 12-10-2019 04:20 PM

I’ve been trying hard not to be an *******, but seriously... how the hell can you guys not know what that button does?

PS: Your girlfriend/wife has one of those too. Push it a couple of times. You’ll thank me later...

We have some members that are still confused about the gender of other members. Forget the button!

Also great for opening your soft top!

Falconquey 12-10-2019 07:28 PM

I'm still digging that button on my dash. So cool!!!!

JARblue 12-11-2019 09:41 AM

The button is ugly. I've been looking to get a RHD passenger door handle for mine.

You sure you're not hitting the wrong button. You're supposed to hit the on button for the vibrator first. Then increase the vibes.

God-Speed 12-11-2019 11:51 AM

Can I get my click back?? :ugh2:

bthomas87 12-13-2019 12:35 PM

Everyone seems to forget that holding the unlock button down will put the windows down too.

That actually is a handy feature I never use. In the summer especially. Just to vent the car a little but before getting in.

I read the important bits. My 09 Z is the newest car I’ve ever owned and before this I owned a 90s Chevy truck. So I’m not familiar at all with modern car features. Plus it’s not like that button really stands out. I know the important buttons. Like how to turn off SRM and drive my car like a man...

I read my manual, and have sticky notes all through it. :rofl2: I hate the new manuals in DVD. Can't put sticky notes on them. :shakes head:

But you have to do a back flip, into a standing camel toe, click your heels 4 times, hold your nose and spin in a circle 3 times to stick the finish. Otherwise the Sheriff isn’t impressed and you go straight to jail. You don’t pass go, you don’t collect $200....

Key fob in pocket. Walk up to gas door. Push in on gas door and it opens. Magic.

Five years of ownership and I never realized there was another method.

Zezus 12-16-2019 01:07 PM

I'm so confused.
What did you think that button was?

No for me, tested it today
Fuel door open if one car door is open a least for me.

I didn't think it was a button at all. Never gave it a second look, or even a first look. Just wasn't something that ever stood out to me.

Same here, car has to be unlocked for the fuel door to be opened. Must have been changed between '11 and '13

I 3rd this. And for me, the driver side door has to be unlocked first before the gas door will push open. If I unlock the car from the passenger side from the button, the gas door is still locked.

OP, be very careful not to push the self-destruct button. It's next to the "ejecto seato" button. These are for emergencies only.

The passenger side "ejecto seato" button comes in handy when your on one of those blind dates that suddenly turn south.

And handy for a 2 fast 2 furious situation if you're ever forced to ride with thugs. Just make sure the button works.

first time I ever saw "modern car features" and Nissan z in the same sentence.
:rofl2:

I don't understand what's funny. OP states his car is an '09, and during 2008/2009, yes, it did have modern features....

but then again, "modern features" is fluid and subjective.
