One of these days, we are all gonna meet up at a Z meet, look back on this confusion, and laugh it off over a few beers

Note: I do not condone drinking/driving lol.

If your buying, I’m drinking! I don’t care what gender you think I am. :icon23:

Oh, unless you’re one of those weirdo’s that thinks there’s more than 2.

I’ll buy the brews!

And there are more than 2 genders?

were there any internal changes for the motor that effect the oil consumption after 2011?

I was told between 09-11 years were mostly effected by the oil consumption issue.

Negative internally the engine was the same.

I believe the problem was a bad mill on the #3 cylinder.

I think the oil consumption issue is case by case and by car, as not all Z’s share this issue or any issues.

nis350 10-23-2019 12:43 PM

I think so also. Nissan has used this particular engine in different variations for a very long time and I imagine they have worked out most if not all the bugs.

Perhaps it was due to workmanship during the assembling process or other accessory components such as piston rings, valve seals etc.

You think its alright to use the longer 9E oil filter instead of the shorter 65F? Also would there be any benefits in using the longer 9E?

Rarely do I get over 200 degrees here in GA. Usually between 160 and 180 thanks to the Z1 34 row oil cooler.

Yeah I have yet to purchase the Z1 34 Row Cooler, def before next Summer.

i put in the Purple Ice Super Coolant with the Z1 coolant cap and mine stays below 200 degrees here in Florida. Before it would be around 220 degrees.

Surprised that it actually worked a bit.

If I remember correctly, the longer filter won’t fit with the Z1 cooler. It’s a bitch to get in and out with the short one.

I also seem to remember some warnings about lower oil pressure, but won’t swear to it.

The longer filter will fit with the Z1 cooler and fittings... barely. It's a PITA and not worth it. You have to unhook the cooler lines from the therm plate every time you change filters. Now, if you're going to be dumping the oil from the cooler and you have a side or upside down mounted cooler, this might work for you. If not, just stick w standard size chode-filter.

I noticed no decreased in pressure when I swapped from long filter to short.
