Nismo rear wing removal ? hmm

I enjoy driving the nismo around town, but it blocks vision, and it also makes the rear view mirror dim function wonky because it blocks the light from reaching the sensor. Anyone remove their wing ? thoughts ?

You could put a Sport spoiler on, same bolt and clip pattern. Otherwise, plan on plugging (if I remember correctly) 11 holes.

I'd considered doing the same thing. Ended up buying a Zoom Engineering Monaco mirror instead. The issue did kind of resolve itself.

Pffftttt... the rear view mirror in my sport is pretty much useless. It’s like looking into a periscope. Besides, the clowns around here can’t be bothered with turn signals or mirrors.

It's not the wing causing the problem, lol. You can't see out of the back window regardless.
I added wide angle mirrors to my door mirrors ,and pretty much ignore the rearview unless someone's tailgating me.
They should have put a camera at the top of the hatch, and made the rearview a vid screen. Problem solved.

The newer nismo spoiler curves up with a lip and actually reduces the vision window too. So rule is just hold my breath and hope i dont hit something

i'm pretty sure it's the wing causing the intermittent dim function. Rear headlights beam passes the wing and the rearview mirror thinks the rear headligh is gone and stops.

11 holes. That would look weird.

You're better off getting a hatch off a wrecked car and stashing the oem nismo hatch/wing in storage.

Why do you need to look backwards? You should be passing everyone :driving: ;)

Side view mirrors are plenty for when reverse is needed. A good visual assessment the area before reversing in tight quarters is always helpful. And practice

Gonna have to disagree with you here, buddy. I had the same mindset as the OP after I had a sedan riding my *** in the left lane on I-640 in Knoxville in before morning nautical twilight. Nismo wing meant I couldn't get a good look at the headlights.

I put Newtons on the loud pedal, sped up to 108 mph to get the sedan off me. He effected a hard pass on the right, blew by me. His door paint looked odd so I glanced over and saw "Knox County Sheriff" on the door. He passed me, got in front, and blipped his wig-wags before continuing on.

I ended up getting the Zoom Monaco inside rear mirror and Craft Square sides so I had better visuals. But I damn near sold the wing before I decided instead to spend $1000 to overcome the issue..

Why not just move over and let the guy pass?

I have never had a problem. Must just be you. Just sayin. You may need to buy an AMC Pacer.

Had a line of cars on my right. Normally I do shift lanes when someone's dogging me, and for exactly that reason.

Lollll. He passed after I gave him a window by rocketing past right lane traffic with my giant black phallus of a car :rofl2:

Speaking of big black phallus’.. you haven’t lived until the biggest, ugliest, blackest NJ state trooper has you laying face down on the shoulder of the NJ Turnpike with his Glock pointed at the back of your head, screaming “DO YOU KNOW HOW FAST YOU WERE GOING”??

No Sir! My speedometer stops at 85 MPH.

He actually laughed at that one!

saintluk2 09-18-2019 03:21 PM

Lately i just point the rear view mirror just down enough that headlights don't beam into my eyes and i can lower my head and see what's going on behind me.

BettyZ 09-18-2019 07:49 PM

Must be nice to be short and actually fit in the Z...

My butt is just the right size to fit in the nismo seat. I drove a EVO with aftermarket Ricaro seats, and my bone structure is about 4 inches too wide. literally barely feel the bottom of the seats.

HXCloud 09-26-2019 04:28 PM

I would suggest the 2015+ nismo rear spoiler if you still wanted to keep something there. It adds enough to elevate the looks of the car, without obstructing view in any way
