Zo let's say NOMO Z's
I like coming here to read about the Z, I also follow a few "guys" on youtube just to see what's going on and how much they abuse their cars and that gives me hope that my Z will last me a looong time. So I ask you, kids, if the Z is no longer produced by Nissan and there are no "new" things to talk about, will this Forum die down. Personally now retired and spending a lot of time in the gym and online I like coming here and interacting with those who don't find my topics boring. I hope "we" can remain here and exchange anything that can help one another because I know the new members will be buying used Z's and personally I can give my 2 cents and help them out with issues that I may have gone thru. :driving::tiphat:

Not if people keep starting pointless threads
Innovation for the platform has certainly slowed but it is still going on. And that innovation is at unprecedented levels - see Justin's build with the CJM intake manifold. The forum will be around as long as the hosting fees are paid. If there are enough sponsors and members paying dues then it can be maintained without much additional effort. |

I'm in for the long haul. I'll have my 370Z until the day I drop dead, which I hope won't be anytime soon. I'm also on a few 350Z and 300Z forums. They are much quieter, but still have posts from time to time. I see that happening here over time.

There are a number of us on here that of the Boomer generation so you are not alone. The forum will be what we make of it. Many of us have coming here for year and developed meaningful relationships and a community of support. Platforms com and go but the Z line of cars rocks on. There is constant development of mods for the 350 because it is a solid platform, cheap, good looking and makes decent power. The same is happening with 370 and it is better looking and makes more power. Its design is timeless as well imho. So here I will stay until the powers to be close up shop. I gladly pay my $20 a year to support the continuation of the forum.

I'll be around checking things out. Haven't participated much for awhile but pop in often. I have parts and need parts so I'll still be in. I'll stay connected with some of you guys even if we haven't seen each other for a while. As for the Z, the day will come when Nissan/Renault will say adios Z. You will be revived if and when the right time comes. The market for these types of cars is dwindling fast thanks to SUVs, Tesla's, Hybrids.

There's basically a Z for everyone.
I assume a lot of people here originally bought a used F-Body/Prelude/CRX/Integra or whatever that once-upon-a-time was a good car in their respective categories. There's going to be a generation of people buying Z's for doo-doo cheap. People who bought it new got to live in the moment. And there are older people who have the experience to come to the personal conclusion that this is the car for them. When the day comes I'm in a position to get a new sports car, I would want to hold onto my Z. Could likely still afford it, but don't have the space. As much as we don't like the lack of update, and how retail now is a bit of a rip off, I think it's actually hard to part with. Used it's at a nice point of price and age, and it almost seems like selling it would be at a loss, especially if you invested in it. |
There’s also folks who had a z (or 2, or 3+) that made friends and enjoy spending time here since there are some good folks on here. Very few vehicles create a lasting subculture within the car world (vette, Jeep, Miata, z, etc) this is one of them.
There’ll be more off topic discussions as time goes on vs on topic z threads but that’s fine with me. |

I'll be reading this forum until it goes away, or I do. I've had my Z for almost 7 years, and will not be getting rid of it any time soon. I still have a lot of upgrades in mind. I have a daughter on the way, and hopefully in the future she'll enjoy working on the car with me.
This forum has been instrumental in all the DIY work I've done, so I really do hope it continues well after the Z34 is discontinued. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |

I'm sure the forum will stick around, always a good resource to ask at least a few people questions. I don't have too many car buddies in my field, so this is my fix. Also, I'm sure at some point, the Z will become super cheap and will become a bigger mod/build platform (obviously a decent presence is already there). So maybe there will be a second wind as it gets into the third, fourth, and fifth owners who have some sort of nostalgia for it or want a simple-ish, relatively analog car.
I'm pretty much here because I wanted a fun analog car that would be more reliable than the E46 M3 which was my original desire. I'm sure more people will come to this car in the used market in the future. |
Well we know for sure Hotrodz and Elmo are progressing toward their big build, so we will have entertaining contents (knowledge, pain, joy, jokes at the expenses of their pain :stirthepot:, etc) for at least the next couple of years.

I think what most people mean by the term “analog” is the feel of the driving experience which is very classic sports car like. Hydraulic steering, naturally aspirated V6, regular (non computer controlled) suspension, real gauges (not computer generated), not much noise dampening, etc. all help contribute to that unique analog feel. We use gay as another term for odd or weird, eg, stop being so gay. Always have... Always will. And fag = punk.

We used to always call the gaffers, faggers. You know. Because it was funny.
Prove to me that it isn't. |
Hek,
The Forum will stick around as long as the cars are still driven. One of the three cars I sold several years ago which allowed me to buy my 370Z was a 1990 300ZX, a car I owned for 27 years (still only had 81 000 km (50 000 miles) when it left). Like you, I'm an old retired guy, and I'd been following the TwinTurbo.net Forum forever, for exactly the same reasons you have expressed. And I'd still follow it today if I had kept the car, and there are a lot of that generation still on the road, and will be for years. The good sports cars never die ... nor the interest in them. |
Well HEK, I guess this thread answered your question for you. You only posted a few days ago and it’s already at page 3. Like others has said we all have a true classic sports car that will be around for a long, long time yet. Just look at the following the older Zeds still enjoy.
One of things I love the most is the history/heritage you get with Zed ownership. Sure the forum content may change some but interest will always be there for us lot and the many others that will join in when they buy used. For me I’ve loved the Zed ever since my soccer coach bought a nice second hand 260z in the 70’s (I am now 50) when I was about 10. He gave me a lift to a game one Sat morning and I knew then this car was special and that I was going to buy one someday. Bought a Silver 260z about 10 years later, gave it a full resto. Had it for about 15 years and stupidly sold when kids came along. It was a 2+2 but still not ideal. I should dig a photo or 2 and post. Maybe that could be a new thread, why we bought a Zed in the first place and photos of members previously owned Zeds. Anyway, enough of the trip down memory lane, long live the might Zed! (and the forum) Cheers :icon18: |
The Z is special, at least to me.
Also had an 260z with triple Webers, mid range cam, headers etc... That was one fun Z to drive. Then an 280zx and now 370z. The exterior designs have changed over the years. I am glad that Nissan kept those 3 smaller gauges on the top centers. Quote:
