Nissan cuts models -- 370z might be one

Just saw this in Autoweek

Short version

5. Nissan 370Z

The 370Z coupe and roadster are about a decade old at this point, and their sales aren't exactly keeping Nissan dealers afloat.
The 370Z was basically on its way out, but if the current financial climate at Nissan persists,
it will be difficult to create a replacement from scratch. This means the nameplate is likely to go on hiatus.

Fanatics can keep their Z

Supra for those wanting a new driving JDM experience.

Or wait for mazda to drop their coupe?

Its funny people keep raving to porchr keeping the manual etc etc but who can afford a 75k+ car (lets be real 100k+++ for the ones that are a driving experience) yet nissan is able ti make a raw experience with lots of street use sub 50. Btw i paid out the door just over 50k CAD!!!

Yes an old model but to me if i look at the porches over the past 25 years aside from rear tail lights wtf changed?

Anywho.... it would be a shame to discontinue but i also see why they would want to... they should limit production to keep it alive until they sort themselves out.

This is the last affordable high revving NA manual offering. The stangs went ecoshit + v8. Miata and toyobarus are a bit soft on the power side. Everything else is way more pricey without the same offering. Then again... real men are dying out these days and get upset there is no dual climate control and a little lcd screen saying "eco" because it really makes the driving experience knowing you can flip some gimmick switch to tighten up your already loose bowels.

I wish Nissan would discontinue 370z already.

I'm shocked they didn't kill it three or four years ago.

Yep. I think it would’ve been nice to use the updated 15 Nismo as the “last hurray” and send it into sunset, instead of staying stagnant since then.

OptionZero 08-05-2019 12:12 PM

as long we can still get spare parts, i don't care if they still produce it

anyone that wants one has a decade worth of used examples to look for

buying a new Z is a pretty stupid decision, imo

ZoomZ 08-05-2019 12:38 PM

Apparently the the 370 Nismo still has it charm. I still get "looks" of WOW and amazement from people as I drive by. It's amazing how many "NON" car enthusiasts still don't know what it is! Ask them to point out Porches, Mustangs and BMW's and they have no problem.

keep em shiny and loud, and the Z lives on. :)

John Q. Public has already done that for them. Time for Nissan to **** or get off the pot.

Maybe if they’d redesigned the Z and GTR years ago they could have created better brand excitement versus the numerous updated SUVs etc. That is the point of halo sports cars isn’t it?

It’s cheaper and easier to order a couple of thousand stickers to get them through another model year.

They're working on the R36, won't see a new Z till that's done and out in production at the very least.

Totally this.

I mean of course I'm surprised it's been around this long.

But if Nissan has no soon plans for a successor, it doesn't hurt any of us that there's a surplus of Z34's to go around. It only hurts Nissan.

Depends on your perspective. The last used car I bought was my first when I was 16 years old. It's been new cars ever since. But I usually get my money's worth out of them as I keep them 10 to 15 years.

So, I just bought a new Z. And I'm the weirdo that enjoys that the car is a bit of a throwback. If it's confirmed they're killing it, I might buy another one.
