FYI. 2010 nismo Front bumper conversion

2 Attachment(s)
So I just recently had my 09-14 front nismo bumper painted and installed, bought the oem nismo front fender liners and the zspeed nismo aluminum undershroud. Turns out I also need the undershroud extension piece that connects the undershroud to the splitter on the front bumper. I’ve looked around everywhere for an aftermarket piece(was hoping it would be compatible with the zspeed undershroud) as the oem plastic one Nissan makes is $800.

I bought the 350z undershroud extender, but that doesn’t come close to fitting. Thought maybe I could drill new holes into it, but it is inches away still.
Just now I ended up buying the $800 oem plastic extender from Z1 motorsports, which should for sure fit correctly.

I’ve searched around on google hundreds of times and could barely find anything on anyone else having this problem.(most must not care for spending $800 for plastic lol). So I made this thread to hopefully help others out with the same problem.

Anyone that dealt with this problem in a way other than dropping $800 on the oem piece, it would be helpful to me and many other on what you did or what can be done to keep that front lip sturdy so it doesn’t bend in the wind.

Thanks for the info. Nissan inflates the price of that piece bc it's the first thing to get damaged and insurance pays for it so.. $$$$$

Yep that little plastic piece is expensive!

I've seen people run their cars without it, and I could actually see the front bumper fascia getting pushed in a little at the bottom while the car was moving. The support piece is a must have. Steep price for Gen 1 Nismo conversion.

Time to get creative with CAD (cardboard aided design).

Should be able to make a template to transfer to some 1/8 aluminum sheet

Exactly! You can buy a sheet of aluminum and make a splitter that extends to your under tray! My guy fabricated the splitter and under tray in one piece.

Please document the solution!!! If I could do a v1 Nismo bumper conversion for a reasonable price, I'd be all over it!

LMAO, I just went out to the garage and I still have my extender. It has been off my car since I added my first NextLevel Performance Nismo Splitter. I am not sure but if you need it for an APR front splitter either especially if you have a Zspeed under tray or similar.

FWIW Cheapest I found for oem was at courtesyparts.com for $635. I never realized how expensive that conversion was/is.

Always check the junk yard! There is nothing special about that part.

That’s very cheap. I sent the seller a message regarding shipping to the US. Hope I get lucky.

If he can’t help shipping it direct to the U.S, I can give you my dad or brothers address to ship it within the uk then you can arrange shipping to the U.S from there? He was willing to ship my spoiler here in Australia so I’d guess he’d ship to the U.S

Oh Really?!

I have FS if anyone interested. $500 picked up in SoCal (Firm).

Comes with a free Nismo V1 bumper. Ready for prep and paint! ;)

Thanks for the great info TDogg!!! I'm currently saving up to replace the under-shroud extension and this thread made it super clear what I need! I may as well get the aluminum under-shroud while I'm at it.

cooltoy 07-23-2019 03:39 PM

Unlike all the other threads on the topic.

This is on my to-do list once i get back from my roadtrip... assuming that my extender is still in one piece by then.

May work in AZ, but not in ME. Be lucky to see another 370Z in general on the road around here.

Quick update: Just received, bought 2 of them because they are just dirt cheap. Seller works with race teams to sell their surplus/used goodies. Shipping cost was $142 via 3 day FedEx.

If anybody needs one, seller has 2 more left.

I am pleased for you, perhaps because of the return costs from Oz he sent me a very chipped one (in the UK). He claims they may have been from shipping but when I studied the pictures what I was hoping were minor marks were actually paint chips. I clearly got the one in the pictures.

So congrats on the bargain.

I returned it to him because of the repainting costs (Pearlescent White) for a refund.

I guess the undertray is not painted but be wary of "new and unused" parts from him it clearly doesn't mean they are undamaged. They have just never been sold.

Fair enough. Mine too had a very small paint chip but it’s so small it didn’t bother me plus I may get the blade part of the spoiler wrapped in gloss black at some point. Nismo spoilers cost over 2k here in Oz so paying less than $500 inc shipping was a bargain . Sorry you were not happy with yours. Here’s mine

Glad they arrived swiftly and in one piece

Not to defend the seller. I exchanged many messages with him and got an understanding of his operation. Some or all items listed aren't physically with him. He is like the middle man that arrange the sale between buyer and the race teams. The items may come directly from the location of the race teams (true in my case, even delayed the shipping by like a week because the race team was @ an endurance race or something).

Thank you. Also thanks for offering help on logistics. I got very lucky with this deal. Somehow, this item didn't show up even if I expanded the Ebay search to "worldwide". I've been looking for a reasonably priced OEM piece for a long time now. I flat out refuse to pay the ridiculous price in United States.

milmast 08-21-2020 12:43 PM

To those who have done the conversion, is this all that's needed to swap a Nismo V1 front bumper from a Base/Touring/Touring Sport:

Front Bumper
Undershroud (OEM or Z-Speed)
Driver Fender Liner
Passenger Fender Liner
Lower Cover Extension Piece & Fastening Clips
Nissan Emblem

Trying to get an idea if its cheaper if I price out each of these parts myself, or buy the conversion kit from Z1 for $2500. Not really looking forward to spending that much, plus paint.

cooltoy 08-21-2020 01:09 PM

I assume you mean switching non Nismo bumper for a Nismo bumper, not the opposite way you have it in your post.

See Word document attached at the end of the first post of the following thread.
