Am I Crazy? Mod List and feedback

Soon after buying a brand new nismo I started having the hyper mod bug syndrome. I am starting to think down the road when all is set and done if i should have just gotten a used gtr or continue down this path. Here is a very short list as of now

(4100) Te37 wheels including center cap cover and rays hubring (4100)
(230). R40 Iconix Lug nuts
(350). Set of pressure sensor Autel maxi tpms ts508
(1200) Brand new michelin pilot tires
(1300) Brand new michelin winter tires
(370). Diff cover plus gear motul fluid/Spl diff solid bushing that i then replaced with whiteline poly
(70). 3 extra motul diff gear oil to reflush after break in
(98). whiteline poly bushing
(150). Z1 subframe collar
(1900) Motordyne shockwave
(155) Phillips X-treme Vision bulb
(114) K&N drop in filter
(140). Raceseng ahift knob
(260). Windows tint
(50). Dress up bolts

Which puts me over 10k at the moment and im not even close halfway through my build. This puts me over 50k already including the car plus mod. Im at the brand new supra territory now and im starting to second guess myself. I value your opinion and thanks in advance.

How are those mods over $10K? I can see where you spent around $5-6K~ish for the wheels/tires and overpriced Motordyne exhaust, but not sure where the other $4K went... You need to learn to search for sales and part outs otherwise you're doing yourself (and your wallet) a great disservice.

Buddy, i edited my post so you could see im already at 10373 and im sure im still missing few parts plus the sipping i paid for few items i did not include on the price. The winter tire also i already got a good deal for them. Got them as clearance. My winter set is same spec as the stock size tire which is 245 front and 285 rear.

You need to down size your winter tires, 225 max.

Mod bug aka rabbit hole will mostly bite the same way with a more expensive car. You ain’t gonna keep the Supra stock, and next thing you know you’ll be in the $70k range.

OFF TOPIC: ever heard about the Ft86/FRS recall fiasco, where the Toyota techs screwed the pooch leading to multiple catastrophic engine failure? Have fun with having Toyota guys deal with a BMW engine lol.

Edit: just saw you came from an 86

Well, you would have bought a GTR or Supra and modded that too. And those mods would cost even more. And that's a pretty tame list.

Been there done that... with what I put into my Nismo the first year, I could have paid it off entirely. What's the point of owning a car if you can't tinker with it? #noragrets.

I heard about the recall i also spent a good fortune on that car. I could have had a gtr by now if i pour those money plus with what i spent with the 370z but i have no regrets so far just second thoughts

Tires are not mods. They are maintenance items. You can take them off your list.

Ok, what is your definition of car modification?

:iagree: beat me to it

OP
If you're second guessing yourself about the money, you can look the other way on things like the non oem bulbs and the aftermarket diff cover, etc... I'm assuming you will not be tracking the car if you're going to pay that much for bulbs but then skimp on something like the intake. Don't forget to add in a tune also.

dts3 04-13-2019 11:38 AM

And if you ARE tracking the car, you will want to add an oil cooler. It's all about priorities I guess
