high mileage z?

As the title says I am actually interested in getting a higher mileage 370z. I am not unfamiliar with the car actually. I had owned a 350z about 5 years ago and it was an awesome car and had zero problems mechanically speaking. It actually had about 100k miles when I got it and lasted for a while before I sold it. I know there are threads out there but a google search didn't actually yield as much as I would've hoped. I am looking at a 10-15k price range which nets me around 80 plus thousand miles. most are in the high 90's if not early 100's. Has anyone purchased one with that many miles on it? I know the engines are considered to be pretty "bulletproof," but I am curious to know what other people think about the mileage bracket and what to look for!

thanks!

If you can budget a few grand for maintenance on top of that, and have the time and ability to do your own maintenance, go for it.

I personally wouldn't buy a high mileage sports car unless I want it to be a project car. But if you're looking forward to wrenching and modding, then def yeah.

Don’t let the higher mileage stop you from purchasing a Nissan 370Z. I had one of the highest mileage Z’s on this forum. Our 2009 Nissan 370Z had 300K+ when we finally sold it and it still ran very well and everything worked. Definitely do all your required general maintenance after purchasing this Nissan 370Z. We can give you advice on what maintenance you need to do. I have seen the VQ37HR engine last 300K-400K before needing to be rebuilt depends on what you use your vehicles for? In my experience from what I seen prepare to pay more for the Nissan 370Z you really want. Also the lowest priced Nissan 370Z is not always your best option. Definitely shop around for the right Nissan 370Z for you! www.ebaymotors.com www.autotrader.com www.cars.com

Thanks for all the input! I'm looking around for good prices and decently low mileage. Somewhere in the high 80 and 90 range isn't bad for me. I'm good with working on cars so I'm not to worried about wrenching!

It's like playing Russian roulette. I had a 350Z with 109,000 Miles when I bought it and it ran strong until Nissan of DTLA did a oil change and it started running funny and died. The VQ is bullet-proof, just run down the maintenance checklist and if you see any red flags with that particular car, stay away. Also, keep in mind that the 370Z runs pretty hot and it does have a CSC issue. So I would be extra cautious with any one of them that is over 20k miles. If there was no oil cooler and that car was driven in a hot climate, you will see extensive wear in that engine especially at that mileage. This is with all 370Z's from 2009 to brand spanking new since Nissan doesn't want to address the problem. Oil cooler and the CSC replacement with a heavy duty or relocation are two musts if you plan on keeping a 370Z for a while.

I feel like you have to be careful either way. A numbskull kid could own the car for less than a year and do serious damage to it. Meanwhile a one-owner high mileage car from a guy who knew how to enjoy a sportscar without beating the snot out of it could be the most reliable car you could choose from.
