Just so you guys can recognize me if you see me walking around at Fontanna. Here’s a picture from a couple of weeks ago...

How bad is the Dragon in a stock handling Z? Not really wanting to do swift springs but maybe a front sway bar.

Not bad at all. Just get some better brake pads and DOT 4 fluid. Motul RBF600 or the like.

As long as you know your limits and your car's limits, you should be fine. Don't be tempted to keep up with others who have driven it numerous times and whose cars are well-modded. It can get real sketchy real quick. I know because I had several scares my first year in my stock Z with no experience. I went home with a good plan on what needed to be changed and have been loving the roads up there ever since.

i've gone every year on stock suspension and have kept up fine with guys running coils, sways, etc...

If you don't run real hard, it is not an issue. When guys run with us their brakes are smoking hot.
The "I got to drive it down the road to cool them off hot". Smoking and stinking like hell.
I am not the fastest guy out their either.....

Noop, just do your brakes, makes sure your fluids are fresh, and tires are good to go.

i've ran with fast guys and pushed to the point of rolling sidewalls on good tires and no brake issues lol

Meh, you can only get going so fast out there and it's a public road. Seems like I find myself behind a Harley Davidson "conquering" the road @ 5mph around corners and refusing to use pull offs.

I've found the key is to hit it exactly at dawn. No one else is dumb enough to be awake and on the road at that time...

Early morning is the best time. The only problem is that the road is cold and damp. You have to be extra careful with the loud pedal. :driving:

I only run early in the morning. The car will stay parked until the next morning unless I need to go to the store in Robbinsville.

JARblue 03-23-2019 02:59 PM

I'm going to bring a cot. Is there an interior space someone will let me setup in? Or worst case, a porch?

I think Frank has a porch you could sleep on.

You could shack up with EW in the tent.

I’m thinking the “Cement Pond” was empty last year, may be able to setup there :ugh2:

jchammond 03-23-2019 10:09 PM

Is Frank hosting a get-together party this year; as without any pre-planning,,,may be difficult to locate newbies :ugh2: Internet & phone service isn’t the best there :wtf2:

We can all meet on the deck anytime on Wednesday, and Thursday anytime. Friday and Saturday, after dinner on the deck.

Leingod 03-23-2019 10:39 PM

I'll be with EW and Madwi primarily. So we shouldn't have an issue with meetups. It's looking like I'll be making the drive now. Plan is to leave after work on Wednesday. Possibly meet up with EW and Madwi along the way and head into the village. We will all be around for Thurs-Sat fun.

jchammond 03-23-2019 10:43 PM

I plan to arrive Tuesday & depart Sunday :driving:

If you are driving down. It might be easier for you to meet up with me. Take that back. I'm leaving Wednesday morning.

I'm more excited just to come out and hang with everyone. Enjoy stories, beers, and look at everyone else's rides. I'll do the dragon once or twice, but honestly have that as being on the lower end of things to do.

The best time is to drive it before Zdayz starts. Hmmm, Nope, I'm wrong. The BEST time is to drive it before Zdayz at dawn.

old guy 03-24-2019 07:53 AM

I didn't go last year but the two previous yrs. I hit the tail the Monday & Tuesday before ZdayZ and there were very few people on it, we basically owned it !

Agreed.. I have been there about a dozen times on motorcycles and Mon through Thursday on a normal week before 10am is usually pretty good.

Spooler 03-24-2019 08:12 PM

Just watch out for the Fontana Village laundry guy. I shot around a corner one time and he was in my dang lane coming the other way. Crazy.
