don't turn this into a very expensive experiment... ;)

Yea thats my attitude to..but its getting very annoying being followed around and getting ******** tickets from cops "speed not reasonable for conditions" and the lack of public knowledge of the car. All idiots think im driving a car 60,000 dollars or more because it looks like one so they treat me like a rich douchbag. they dont let me merge into traffic and they dont respect my turn signals trying to get off the highway and i cant forget about the constant tailgating even tho im in the middle or right lane. Some people are something else!

I mean, who do they think you are... Thurston Howell the 3rd or something??? :icon17: Yeah, I agree. |
that has nothing to do with the car you're driving. there are simply lot of rude idiots out there on the road. some even get hurt or even killed because of that.
people are very angry these days, maybe that's just the environment we are in today. Quote:

I don't think the general public gives half a ****. Most of them barely know enough to get their own oil changed, let alone be concerned with my sports car.

I mainly bought it as a GT car to enjoy on the weekend drives. |
People have a weird conditioning to think because something is newer it's better. Or more accurately, that if something isn't the latest model, it's no longer good. When (if) Nissan comes out with a new Z, it's not like the 370Z suddenly becomes a bad car.
Car models being an annual thing is just to take advantage of that. Same with phones/gadgets. Tesla wasn't even going to have year models at first because Musk knew it, not sure if they do now. |
I deal with a few different kinds of people.
1) Those who know nothing about cars. To them, it looks good and it looks fast. I get a lot of compliments. I got a lot with my 350z too. Both cars look more expensive than they are. 2) Those who know a little bit about cars and horsepower. To them, it's a lot of "dud3 my must@ng is super faster!!!" 3) Those who are car enthusiasts and who recognize it for what it is - a car meant to carve canyons and winding roads. |

It's a Z, and the Z has always been the Z since 1970 and nothing else is quite like it.
There are those that understand and there are those I won't bother trying to explain it to. |

It is allways a Mustang or Camero that rolls up on me. |
And that's the public views Mustangs and Camaros... they all seem to think they're only straight line machines. That hasn't been true for years and they'll happily tear up the twisties.
A GT with performance package is basically dead even with a Nismo in performance and price. Somehow. I still don't understand how the Nismo is so expensive lol. |

In the car I'm much more grounded in reality and therefore I don't do anything stupid or risky. I want to take my car to a track day maybe this summer. I need that in my life. Luckily I enjoyed my bike for about 4 years until I sold it this past spring. I was very lucky to have had it, enjoyed and never lay it down or die and then sell it. Owning a sportbike was something I'll never forget and I'm thankful to have gotten to experience it, but I can totally understand why people die on them all the time doing stupid ****. |
Completely agree!
I sold my 09 Touring 2 years ago when I got my Lexus RC F. Missed the Z so just picked up a '14 Sport a few days ago. The guys at work gave me a hard time since all the ones they see are horribly modified. I agree with them these guys are purists that own an R8, NSX, Cayman GT4 and S. That being said, I missed the fun factor for the price and got it again as a toy and it sits next to my S2000 as a forever car. I view it as a much cheaper alternative to the new Supra and bought it before others catch on. Quote:

I take it as a compliment of course! Lets face it, the Z has got timeless curves & well if done nicely n well maintained is honestly a neck breaker! I also love it when i got other cars like Honda's and whatnot tailgating me and trying to get me to react. I just keep calmly cruising while they make all the noise they want right behind me.. until they eventually feel stupid and pull back. Not worth the Z's time nor gas.. I cant help but to feel its like a civic trying to rev up next to a lambo :icon17: not in just speed wise but style, class, everything. |

The Z is respected. Only morons like civic/frs and mustang drivers have anything negative to say.
I think people from every section of the enthusiast market just want to see a Z35. But the Z holds its own. Adding to my post. If there's going to be negativity over the Z? It's not going to be directly at the Z. It's Nissan's neglect of this amazing car. |
I've always loved the second gen 300Z twin turbo. The design is timeless and I believe the 370Z will be looked at in the same way in 15 years.

Younger males in the HS/College age that probably got into car from fast and the furious or video games usually ask me, IS THAT A GTR? Now, I did copy the GTR black a-pillar for that wraparound cockpit look, but . . . yeah, thats what i get from that demographic
OTOH, middle age people and up don't bother asking what model it is, they just say, wow! nice car! These are not car people, just random folks at the car wash, grocery store, restaurant, etc. Its pretty nice, because you know their opinion is the "purest" - unhindered by allegiance to a brand or style At the car wash i also ran into this lady who was maybe 50-60 years old that had a super clean new nismo also that got a chuckle out of seeing our cars next to each other. Then there's your random dudes are the local autozone or junk yard that just wanna know how much power i'm making. |

I bought my Z because I fell in love with the NISMO a few years back, and when I could finally afford one I bought it because I knew it would be a car I would have a for a really long time. My plan is to keep it as "classic" as possible with little modification (just a few performance upgrades). I feel like it will be looked upon in the future how a lot of people look at the 97 supras today. that "unicorn" feel,,, if you know what I mean.
I agree with a lot of you that there are way too many out there now acquiring older z34 models, BAGGING THEM, doing "all show, no go" mods and making them parking lot queens. simplicity is key. less is more. keep the nismo, a nismo. IMO. |
but yes.... the Z stands in a class all on its own.... there's nothing like it. IT'S DIFFERENT. pure love.

with 7 years of ownership in a roadster.
I can say I've received more and more compliments as years go by... |
What I love is the "hey man, I like your 350" … I say, "thanks, but its a 370" … then the, "oh, I didn't know they made a 370!" :wtf:
|
My opinion is; I don't care about strangers opinions.

They still doing that??? Geez!! |
My favorite was the much older crowd ( I'm 31). which didn't help my case with my girlfriend because she always said it was a midlife crisis car. I always was a fan of them asking about the Z, whilst letting me know that they used to have a 240 or 260 280Z. I always thought that was so cool. Now I'm one of those guys that talks about the cars I used to own. I've always just liked talking to z guys, all gens. I bought my first z around 22.... So around that age having something to talk about with a 60 something your old dude was pretty cool. Cross plaining the generations of sorts.
|
How many times have you all been told "cool Porsche, bro"? I get that a couple of times a month. I just say, "thanks!"

I've had mine since October 2009 and I've never had anyone ask me if it was a Porsche. Most either don't know what it is, or tell me they like my 350Z. |

Funny... I get the Porsche comment now and then. |

If we are talking feel, to me it feels a bit like a combination of an MX-5 and an E46 M3, both of which I am a big fan of.

I've had little kids to old people give me the . Had pictures and video's taken. Sitting still and in motion. :rofl2: One of the best was a school bus full of kids putting the windows down and sticking their cell phones out taking pictures and video. The neighbor girl who was 14 at the time. Was out front of her house with a couple of her friends. When I started to back out of the garage and head towards them. They all started with their cell phones. :rofl2:

As much as i wont a bike i know buying one might cost me my life with the way these clowns drive in NY..Maybe if i lived down south i would get one. One of the reasons i got my Z fun and safe.
