Tire paint pen?
I read mixed reviews on Tire paint pens, has anyone tried them out?
|
I didn't even know those existed! I googled some pics. Looks chachi on most, but I think a couple pics with a touch of color between the tread looks alright :twocents:

If nobody comes up with a good answer, try asking on old (back when white walls and raised white letters were popular - 50s-70s) car restoration sites.
Edit: They will probably only know about white but the companies that make white probably make other colors, too. |
I've used them for marking tires at the track. Those ones seem to last a few weeks of driving before the marks start to fade. I think tire vinyl lettering would be better for something you want to not have to reapply it all the time.

It all gets dirty really fast and doesn't last well. However your tire sponsor will likely be happy to send you some.

Tire Stickers sells pens and the rubber stickers that are supposed to last 40k miles(I can personally vouch for a solid 10k). tirestickers.com
Tredwear is the only other 1 I know of, but I don't know if they sell both or only the permanent ones. I have no personal experience with these, but a friend does, and he says they've held up well, but I'm not sure what his mileage is on them. |
Just say NO to the white letter tires that were a fad back in the 80's. LOL

I have a can of white wall tire paint from the 1930s if you need it. |
