Thoughts

Well, kids, I'm 60, older than dirt but healthy and strong like bull. I just got back from the Philippines as I want to retire and not worry about money because here in MA I would most probably have to get a pt job to maintain the same level of life I have. So if I move to the Philippines where the minimum wage is 8 dollars ( a day) I can live happily ever after. That means getting rid of my Z which has 43950 miles. With WInter just around the corner, I changed the tires today to my WInter tires and I know that it's a bad time of year to sell it if I decide to make my move in the next few months. So on that note what do you guys think would be a good way to advertise my car without giving it away...it's mint IMHO
I tried to upload a few pics without any success...

Congrats on retirement. I've been there a few times over the last few years and I love it... Everyone is so friendly down there. What area would you be moving to?

congrats on retirement coming, up I understand all that about retirement funds and maintaining the same standard of living. Working hard and wishing I could retire, but that is a couple of years away

Good luck with selling the Z and have a great retirement over there ....

Cebu City is where I'm thinking of retiring, traffic does suck but for 2 dollars they will take you just about anywhere. Not sure why there are people who drive BMW's, Mercedes and Fords like the Raptor and you can walk faster than you can drive...lol

My suggestions would be to put money aside and have plans to come back when the time get's close. I helped my friend get back to the states several years ago. He was diagnosed with lung cancer and barely made it back to his family in time. They held him over in Japan due to his health. The Dr.'s let him continue because they knew he didn't have long and would need oxygen to make the trip in a couple more days. He passed away 2 months after his return. My advice would be to stay here in the states.

Be very careful

:iagree:
I have been to many third world countries that have "nice" people but when you get there to retire you start finding that everyone wants to take a bite out of you, particularly the government through duties and other methods. Your rights are also not respected in most of those places.
A friend of mine went to Costa Rica when I lived there and after suffering through 2 years he had to retire in Alabama.
If you really like third world, go to Florida where elections are suspect at best.

He does have a point though; be prepared to be viewed as a source of income for people sometimes.

Having said that, Cebu is awesome. Have fun!

Get a hold of Zoren 370. He's from the PI. He's living in Fl. now. When you get out of the states. Don't get sick. Health care is worse then Obombocare.

Had a friend who retired to Belize. Bought a nice place fairly cheap. Not far from the beaches. Had to move back to the states. The cost for security became too much. Said that just about everytime he left his house. It got robbed.

Be careful for want you wish for.
