Road trips
What's the longest ride you have taken on the Z, meaning road trip not the same day come and go trip. I'm planning on taking my Z cross-country to visit a friend. I was considering flying but I rather drive 29 plus hours than wait 5 at an airport to make a connection. Any suggestions?... Hopefully the roads between MA and ALABAMA aren't that bad, Hartford Alabama that is :driving:

5000 km twice. Once from toronto to east coast (cape bretom/halifax)
Few years back toronto to fontana for zdayz. Then to jersey to visit family. Yea. Do it. Both trips had my gf with me... was fun trying to pack. Little lotta tetris. Also suggest considering dyno/hush mat. It helps a lot in the rain. I drove through a lot of it and after 3/4 hours the road noise stress was tiring me out. Longest leg was halifax to quebec (1150km) and fontana to jersey (1100km) so yea.... lol take it easy. For any long drive id say at most like 8 hours a day of driving. Take your time enjoy yourself! And no the gf did not help drive lol |

I drove mine to Nashville Tn for work....it sucked lol...300 plus miles one way. Car was great for about 3 hours and then the lack of comfort set in.

1200 miles. Wasn't bad at all. And much better mileage than my hemi!!

Did from south of Pittsburgh to ZDAYZ 4 times. To Niagara Falls. Planning on going from south of Pittsburgh to Wyoming next month for a wedding. The wife loves taking it.

Did 2200 miles from just south of chicago to ZdayZ and back. 1900 some on a trip to the dragon last fall. It's great on long trips

7900+ miles

Did a trip in March/April from Mpls to Lynchburg then Raleigh (1st snowstorm), Charleston, Savanah, St. Augustine and went to Sarasota/Ft. Meyers for spring training baseball.
Then saddled up and headed west to Dallas, El Paso, Phoenix, Yuma and finally Salt Lake City to see my son. Stayed there for a few days and headed home to Twin Cities, only to get hit with another snowstorm in Wyoming. I'd do this 28 day / 7900+ mile trip all over again tomorrow in my Nismo, but my wife and I are planning a trip around Lake Superior the end of this month. So will only get about 1400+ miles. Maybe I'll get to ZdayZ next year. That's just a little further than Lynchburg right. (Jack and George are calling me back.) |
Orlando, Florida to Des Moines, Iowa...the day I picked it up from dealer. 4 hours first night, 16 or so the next day.

2800 miles in 5 days last summer. A planned 4000 miles in 2weeks this summer. Road trips in a Z are very doable. Pack light and plan on a 1 hour stop at a laundromat along the way if needed.

1800 miles or so... top down all the way... :tiphat:

Don't run out of gas....

Ive been driving from Southern California (near Disneyland) to Gilbert Arizona (~400 miles) almost every weekend since March. I picked up my Roadster first week of April, and the first couple trips were a blast - entered the 'go directly to jail' speed limits a few times. A gym bag for me and a backpack for my GF...Poof! No more cargo space.
But I think Ill start driving my GF's Ford Focus from here on. My back and butt really hurt after a couple hours. |

My longest trips in the Z are:
Milford, CT to Alexandria, VA. Newark, DE to Milford, CT. Milford, CT to Old Orchard Beach, ME Each one was an absolute blast. I can't think of a better GT coupe for the job! |
I love our cars but I wouldn't do a long trip again. The visibility is a big issue when traveling (hit a rock in the middle of the lane), it's an uncomfortable ride overall due to the seats and suspension, the noise of the engine and exhaust gets really bad after 2-3 hours, and it will be really expensive due to premium gas and MPG. If you are going to do it, I highly suggest to only drive with daylight.

Maine to Atlanta, via the Skyline and Blue Ridge, and back, twice in my 350Z. About 3000 miles each time. I was pretty comfortable...either I have no sensory neurons, or is the 350 just more comfortable than the 370Z?

I’ve done Phoenix to LA and Phoenix to SF and back a few different times. Not bad at all. Road noise is a bit more than averwge, but otherwise comfortable. I’m also stock in a sport-base model (not nismo or modified). Better than a Miata and worse than an S5 lol. Totally do-able if you have slight tolerance to discomfort. Better than economy class in a plane in noise and legroom.
Edit: Phoenix to LA is like 6 hours, Phoenix to SF is about 11. |
I just bought my Z not too long ago, but I’ve driven from Memphis, TN to Kansas City, MO 2x. Only about an 8 hour drive but my legs were begging to fall asleep

Harrisburg to Boston. 7 hours each way and I loved every second of it. My friend invited me to his place up near Sault Ste. Marie (about 14ish hours) and I'd love to take the Z.

Took my 2013 370Z Alabama to Seattle , across the northern tier (Wisconsin, Minn, N Dak, Montana, Idaho, Washington...............Return via Oregon coast, Cali coast, Nevada, Did all the Utah parks, then Albuquerque, Carlsbad Caverns , then home to Alabama via Texas and Interstate 10.................. 22 days of touring in total....
The Z never missed a beat, even with 102 degree air temps in Utah. |
I moved to Milford, CT last year. I've done the NY to Boston trek many times. That's about as far as I've gone in the Z
