Overheating Issue Going Mainstream??
Hi all,
Just picked up the latest issue of Motor Trend, which also happens to be the Car Of The Year issue. The Z was nominated, however, in the article, it mentioned the fact that after only a couple of hot laps around the track, the car went into limp mode due to oil temps... Correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is the first major publication that has brought light to this issue?? Merry Christmas! :tiphat: |
Its not. They've been in the magazines since it came out.

Kudos to the Fusion for Car of the year though....:rofl2::rofl2: |
A lot of this could have been avoided by Nissan not putting oil coolers in the test vehicles, or, putting coolers in the production vehicles.
Then it wouldn't have been a surprise / issue to anyone once the vehicle went public. |
I really don't know what the Nissan Co. enginneers/technicians were thinking when designing some of the sytems in the 370.
Some of the stuff is beyond believe! |

The digital clock as a guage is ridiculous as well...why would they do that
|
Where else? The radio face? heh. I can only think of a handful of other gauges they they could have used, but then they'd have to find a place for the clock.

I just wish my fuel and water temp gauges were slick little needles and not that massive silver plastic atrocity.

BTW, worthy to note I dont disagree with the clock on the radio face - every other car Ive had has had that, but it seems a lot of asian cars (and Fords?) like to put those totally dedicated clocks. Why, I'll probably never understand. I kinda like GM's setups.

I couldnt remember for sure, maybe Im just thinking of something else. What about the Foci?
GM's head unit displays are easy to read, and I like their steering wheel controls WAY better than the 370's chintzy ones...I also like the fact that their BASE radio is an MP3-playing CD player. The base 370 head unit is pretty ****-tacular. |

Yeah, but who needs a minivan? Ford is just ahead of the curve and realizes that we don't need them on the roads anymore! Anyways, I also have to agree with you guys on the clock in one of the pods... Don't like it at all, wish they would have taken an oil pressure gauge. I have seen this gauge avert disaster a couple times before, and really think our Z's could have benefited from it!
|
Was a great diagnostic tool in my 2000 Camaro...they ALL had an oil pressure gauge...
|
Instead of a goofy digital clock, how about a programmable digital interface with options such as oil pressure, analog clock, back up camera etc. Nissan could make it a factory option like Porsche’s Sport Chrono Timer Display.
|
Many of the interior features could be improved, but would drive up cost. I think Nissan was locked in on <$30K base price for marketing purposes.
I would like more customization of gauge usage and location, but at the end of the day I think they did a great job. All the money went into performance oriented hardware, and bang for the buck can't be denied. Keep in mind VDC is now standard, the seats are improved, improved interior material, etc. while they cut cost on windshield wipers, etc. |

I agree but we will see when Summer comes around.. because it can get hot in some states where the Winter is nasty. |

Errr...You have one in the left gauge screen. Scroll through the options til you get to it. I leave mine on all the time.. |

also, was looking forward to the real TPMS where it told you the pressure of the tires. i was definitely disappointed when i saw that the 370 has just a dummy light :shakes head: |
