My 1st wife had a Vega when we first met. It was check the gas and fill the oil. she had the tranny fall to the ground twice. The bolts that hold the tranny to the engine would never stay tight. The local cheby dealer was eating this big time. :rofl2:

Then came 1988 and a redesigned Fiero Chassis where they finally got it right...it was a one year deal and the car was axed for 1989. The '88 Gt was actually a pretty good car, and you can directly swap in the larger 3.1 motors from later GM cars for 200+HP in a 2600lb car. Darn good for the day.

Regarding 370z top speed, I have to believe that much over governed speed is going to cause you to redline....I've been up to 125 on a deserted piece of freeway a couple different times (yeah, flame on....) and she was north of 5500RPM already.

Yep, they got it right in '88. Only to kill it the next year. :shakes head: For awhile. The Fiero was the king of kit cars. Pop off the stock body panels and screw on almost any other body style you wanted. :rofl2:

Yeah, the 155 is an ECU limit.

I've heard the mechanical limit (redline rpm + gearing + wheel size) for some models is right around 200, but you'd need more engine grunt to get there. The aero of a 370Z produces downforce as well, so they get heavier the faster they go...

from what i have read and seen at stock it runs out of go not much over the 156 limiter. Somewhere in the 160-170 mph area

I know that pushing into a 30~ mph head wind you need a lot of track to break 130. I tried over and over last fall at No Fly Zone and with pushing into that much head wind 130 was it no matter what i did for a launch. I did 25-30 runs, 30-60 rolls(1/2 mile after the roll start) many digs and even backed up to the end of the runway once and every time i was 127-130 at the trap. Fingers crossed for better weather over fathers day weekend this year.
