2013 Z = 13k....
 

So on 2014 I bought a leftover 2013 Z sports package/ touring stick, zero miles. So I plan to retire with this car as it's me, fits like a glove , no issues with it so far and almost reached 36K. So I had a mini stroke which left me with a paralyzed left leg meaning I couldn't drive the Z ...So I went to look for an automatic vehicle and the Ram trucks caught my eye and so did the incentives that my company gave me. Almost out the door and I get an appraisal of 13K for my Z which so far every single sales person has complimented me while I sat down and wifey is so proud that they even said....wow is a stick..rare cars now come with stick. Long story short...( I know is too late) I was very disappointed for what the dealer was giving me for a trade but I didn't fall for it and had wifey take m e home. The good news is that with therapy I'm able to use my legs and can drive my Z. Funny thing is that I'm so used to ppl saying, nice car, wow a Japanese Porsche...and I know not a single person would say wow a Ram truck... lol....just saying thanks for tolerating an old man and you bet I will drive my Z the last day I work at my company :driving:

nice. the 370z is good therapy too. as with many others, I suppose you would have felt remorse after you sold the z for whatever vehicle.

I am 60 and bought a base model 370 in the UK last year (July). I am pleased to read you are now driving the Z again. :driving:

I would have loved to own a Z earlier but life in general and insurance costs got in the way.

I remember back in my teens seeing a red 240Z and wanting one.

Keep going with the therapy. The car will help. Glad you can drive it again.

I had always thought that as I get older, it will be harder to climb out of the Z than anything else :)

As far as the dealer goes, that's a lowball trade offer, for sure.

StormWhite I was in the same position couldn't afford it and needed a 4 door vehicle, now it's just wifey and me so not only was a perfect time when I drove to the dealer back then but the price was right and there were no problems that plagued earlier models....funny thing is that the day I looked at the '13 there was another one parked next to it IDENTICAL in features and over 15k more but it was a '14, well for 13K I couldn't even afford a Civic..:driving:

Truth be told, I'm the same age as you and while I just sold my Z, like you I plan on driving a 6mt rwd sports car for as long as I can. Keep recovering and may the Z35 be the next car, you & I drive!

Nissan pulled the rug from under all of us when they chopped 4 grand off the NEW price in mid- 2013. That was a really crappy thing to do to your existing customers, all for the sake of squeezing out a few more years of life from a long-running existing model in serious need of an update.

Kudos to you with the therapy and being able to drive the Z again.

I was in a similar situation recently, my normal weight is 180lbs, due to an illness and the inability to eat anything but Yogurt and drink Milk, I dropped down to 127lbs and lost alot of my muscle, enough that I couldn't push in the clutch or get the car in reverse. With drugs I'm back up to 172lbs and was able to drive the car again, it was a joyous day when I got back into it... Good Luck!!!!

Hang in there your health is the most important asset you have and the "Z" is a great car for the young and old. It contributes to keeping the old young and that is a healthy thing.

I too looked at trading for a truck.
In 2012 I bought a 2011 base w/sports pkg. It's my daily driver with 46k on it. After 24 years with same company I changed jobs 3 months ago. I now travel I85 along the Greenville/Spartanburg SC area 25 miles one way. One of the most dangerous road construction infested highways to drive on. My wife wants me to get a 4 door full size truck. Her thoughts are more metal around me will make my travels safe. I looked at the big 3 with year end incentives but I was offended at the best offer I got was $14.4k and the big tanks didn't really float my boat. I rode motorcycles for several years so I have some street survival experience. I will keep my car and enjoy driving it everyday. Maybe a older truck for a standby and keep the car?

More metal may help you survive an accident, a Miata or a Z will help you avoid an accident.

Us old guys need all of the young spirit that a Z car can inject into our veins. You made the correct decision to keep your toy ... and it will help you get back to the stage you were at before your health concern took root.

The high I get every time I get behind the wheel of my 2016 Roadster just plasters a silly assed grin on my face and keeps me a young 68. I've had this love affair since my first z car, a 71 240z. Later it became an 84 300zx, and later still it morphed into a 90 300z which I had for 27 years, until my present 2016.

Where I live, a small city of 42 000, z cars are few and far between, and they stand out from what everyone else is driving. That Ram truck wouldn't have given you anywhere the jolt you get from driving and owning a Z.

And if you find that your clutch pedal control is difficult during recovery, do what I did and swap the stock clutch pedal assembly out for the RJM Performance adjustable clutch pedal. It makes it so easy to modulate the clutch and is what should have been in the car from the factory. Just Google RJM Performance.

Get well soon and get back out onto the streets with the Z!

Great story! I'm sorry to hear about your stroke, but I'm glad to see PT helped. Makes me proud of my fiance :D
