Here's a few more pics -- I'm still getting to know the car. Lots of things to fiddle with... haven't even driven in Dynamic or Race mode yet... more pics soon... http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...218-085923.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...218-090017.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...218-101530.jpg Quote:
Right now, Im not even sure how to change the air filter :icon17: There will be a baseline dyno soon, tho.... then... we'll see where we can go from there :stirthepot: Quote:

BTW, if anybody here wants my Z, you can find it here https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...ting=194341729 Also, if anyone here decides to goes for it, let me know by PM and I'll give ya some helpful hints  I'd definitely like see it go to one of the gents on here -- that car will out turn, out brake, and out accelerate any other stock NA Z with ease  Oh, I'll also have some left-over Z odds and ends for sale soon too. |
Nice car, they remind me a little of a Lotus Evora but lighter, which I would love to have as a spare toy.
Enjoy |

This is my daily driver -- good thing it's more comfortable to sit in than it looks :icon17: I finally learned how to get in and out of the thing without looking too goofy: you have to pretty much fully slide back the seat, then get out and slide it back to whatever feels good on next entry. Boots vs. sneakers, jacket vs. none; these tiny differences are enough to mean the steering column and seat positioning will probably have to be changed from whatever felt right the last time. And, I mean, I'm like only 5'7" with perfect posture. I have absolutely no fucking idea how anyone in the 6' or taller range is getting in and out  They must all buy the spider and just climb in and out the open roof :icon17: Anyway, a few more pics, including a shot of the interior. It's a tight fit. With the 4C, you wear the car as much as drive it :icon17: http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...220-172251.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...220-172352.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...220-172544.jpg Oh, yeah... and this is what it's capable of in the right hands  http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...s-original.jpg |

I still like my nismo better. The different on weight to HP ratio is only .93 hp
with out mod. I will like to see how reliable is going to be. |

Oh, question. You drive it yet in city traffic at all? I love my peasant Hyundai, reliable, fast, comfy, tech but 8 gears in city traffic sucks. Always looking around for a gear. I keep it in sport and use the paddles to drive smooth. Pain in the rear (talk about first world problems) but still much better than my 370 six speed (in traffic). Funny my Volvo six speed auto with its 250 tq is PERFECT in normal D mode. 8 speeds just too much.

I've had several people refer to the Z as a "small car"; that is all relative. For me, even with 100 more horsepower it just felt a little too heavy for my liking. My preference is light-weight ideally paired with a good power to weight ratio. The 4C met those criteria for me perfectly. On that note, I wasn't trying to imply the 4C was necessarily superior to the Z; I might have kept both could I have afforded it, but I was really captivated by the 4C, felt I could probably swing the deal for one, and got tired of crossing my fingers hoping for a Z35 or new Supra being available anytime soon. Gear shifts happen in up to 130 msec, and I've never found insufficient grunt in any given gear (mercifully, only 6 to work with). In traffic I keep it in auto and if the roads are empty/twisty, switch to paddles. My only minor complaint there is that I wish they were on the column rather than the wheel, but it's not a big deal. I've only driven it a bit in "dynamic" mode, which really ratchets up its responsiveness. Once there you can ramp it up further to "race" mode where all the nannies are canceled. Haven't played with that at all yet. This review on it pretty much sums up the different modes well |

it could be a purple & pink Yugo for all I care as long as I liked it would be what matters. Just enjoy it because your paying for it & don't worry about any detractors ;). I happen to think it looks pretty sweet though. |
I, too, think it looks awesome. Though, it's sad to hear that I would, likely, not fit in it considering I'm 6'1 and north of 300lbs.

Finally took it for a spin in dynamic and race mode -- these allow you to see the psi (1.5 bars max!) oil temp, and in race mode G force in turns. Oh... it's a fun little car :yum: Every drive, no matter how prosaic, and you are a human-car hybrid. It just commands all of your attention to the act of driving. This is the most intuitive and engaging vehicle I have ever had the luck to sit in, let alone own. |
How much for an oil change for a 4C is it also every 5k miles?

By the way, despite all the fancy Alfa stuff, keep in mind that Mopar oils and fluids are recommended. Think of the 4C as a really snazzy Dodge Dart :icon17: |

The OCI is a calculated value based on empirical data recorded by the ECU. Or whenever I feel like it... |

Pretty much like the C7 Corvette after driving it to the dragon in NC my oil change meter drastically went down, had to make me change it 3.3k miles for $100 of 10 quarts of oil. Not bad. For Porsche Cayman asked the dealer how much oil change its $300 one or 2x a year depending on how often and hard you drive. Yayks!!! $300 |

It seems strange to me somehow that the car will tell me when it needs fresh oil, but if this is becoming increasingly common in modern performance cars, I'll just go with it. Fluids aside, a 12K and 36K, every nut and bolt is supposed to be checked and re-tightened, which apparently is not cheap and a knuckle-busting full day's work as a DIY. I think you have to take the rear wheel off to access the air filter... I think I'll just find an Alfa dealership around me who can assist. |
My '08 Dodge Ram will tell me that I need an oil change before my mileage is up. The ECU takes in your driving habits, miles, speed, engine load to determine when to change the oil. When the message flashes on my odometer. For me to clear it. I turn the key on, but not to start. Press down on the gas pedal 3 times. Turn the key off. All done.

Weird -- all my pics aren't showing???
Umm... well, here's a bunch again... http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...220-172251.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...220-172352.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...220-172544.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...218-085923.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...216-190831.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...216-190819.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/jordo...216-190805.jpg This car gets a lot of positive attention. You step out of it and people have questions for you. They want a tour. Interestingly, at least for 2015, red and white are more common than black (the launch edition only came in red and white), so this one is a little extra rare. Whatever that means. I love it. It's perfect. Dynoing will be a PITA. It has to go on one with rollers for the front and rear -- apparently the speed sensors get upset and put the car into limp mode if at high speeds the front wheels aren't moving while the rear one's are. AWD dynos are harder to find and much more pricey... I'll most likely do it anyway, 'cause I like data. Swapping out the air filter requires jacking up the car and taking off the rear wheel... It's also a bit of an adventure to add wiper fluid... Still, all worth it. Love this car! |
Bet there is a whole bunch of strange things on the 4C. :rofl2:
Read where there was only 409, 4C's was made. Don't know if that was for the US or world wide. |

Yeah, it's got a few oddities (a distinct personality?), but the motor and trans are fantastic -- far less high strung than my 2ZZ SC'd Celica GT-S and much more responsive than the Z. It's pretty damn close to perfect. Let's just say I think it's perfect for me  Here's my short list of minor complaints: 1. I would like power steering, but my forearms are now used to it (free work out!) 2. I wish the paddles were mounted to the column rather than the wheel and that the gauges and column moved together like it did on the Z. Like the minimal rear visibility, you get used to it. 3. The head unit is pretty terrible. I may actually upgrade that at some point, but overall sound quality is fine and the best sounds come from the engine anyway :icon17: 4. Pricey to dyno, not many tuning options -- but, really is NOT in need of anything. It comes from Alfa with an extra performance tune that is plenty for a DD. If I never tune it, some part of me will wistfully want to, just because its my nature, but it really doesn't need it at all. That's it. It's PERFECT. Unless a lack of a clutch pedal is a deal breaker or small cars are disliked it is an absolute, true sports car in every sense of the word. Looks, performance, sound, and wow factor. |
I love it. Good choice.

I stand corrected tho: there are a little over 1600 in the US Alfa Romeo 4C US car sales figures Still, that's a pretty tough-to-find car. Feel really lucky to have snagged one :D |
Awaiting the one year review on this car... Come on, Jordo... Give us a one year run down...
