Great Day Today!

UPDATE! PICTURES ADDED!

So I woke up 6:30 AM this morning to go down to the dealership to get my one and only free oil change. (I usually DIY it. But since they used Ester oil and it's free for the first time I figured heck why not.) So my car has about 1.6K on it and it got it's first oil change, into the Nissan Ester brand for free. And then I dropped my car off to get it tinted. The guys did a fabulous job 15% in the back, and 35% passenger, the car looks great now with the tint. And after the oil change I did feel a difference in the smoother acceleration and everything just felt great. What a great day, dealership does do 39.99 regular oil change and also the 109.99 ester, I got the ester free. So I think at 4500 or 5000 I'll switch to redline.

Post some pics to see the 15/35 tints on a silver Z.

JakeZ34 12-18-2009 11:59 PM

^ I don't have PG. I have Brilliant Silver. I will post some pics when the sun is out for me to take some pics. I got my car back at 6:30 PM today and the sun was down already but I'd say it's not SUPER dark like 15% but it's reasonably good looking. Not to mention life time warranty as well. So any chip, peel, bubble or discoloration they will redo their work at no charge.

nogoodname 12-19-2009 12:02 AM

I posted PG but then edited to silver. Your avatar looked like PG but then i saw it was BS but I didn't want to say post pics of ur BS Z thinking it sounds like I'm saying something else. So I edited it to just silver.

:iagree:

Check out my tint. I went with 40% all around http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...ted-today.html

Also, DO NOT - I repeat DO NOT put your window down after 72 hours (typical time given by most shop). Wait at least 6-7 days if you can (or longer). A little bit of inconvenience now will save you a lot of inconvenience later. Take a look at this. Make sure your tints are REALLY dry before you open the windows.

^ OUCH AK. Sorry to see that, yeah they told me minimum is 3 days and to stop my urge they actually taped a sort of dowel underneath my window buttons so I can't even press them. They taped it there and told me to leave it for 5 days. But if I really need to open it 3 days atleast. I'll take a whole week on this thing :D. And yes nogood I have a "bullsh*t" Z lol I know I felt weird typing BS too.

nogoodname 12-19-2009 12:10 AM

Tell me about it, I have a BO G..... BO LOL!!

What's with Nissan/Infiniti picking these colour names. Not to mention Theres a BS G too... Blue slate

JakeZ34 12-19-2009 12:13 AM

LOL what does BO stand for? Color wise of course.
Nissan and Infinity frequently visits forums to see how much we can type in the "drives" section. and They can't let us do Brilliant Silver 370Z 6MT/Sports Package. So they figure. Heck we'll make funny names so it sounds like "bs 370z 6mt/sprt pkg"

nogoodname 12-19-2009 12:15 AM

Like when someone smells like crap all the time. They have BO.... bad odour... Not as bad as BS... lol

JakeZ34 12-19-2009 12:23 AM

^ I know bo stands for bad odor. But what is it in color?

nogoodname 12-19-2009 12:26 AM

Black Obsidian... No flakes or anything... Just solid black

I prefer Obsidian Black... Sounds better too

MightyBobo 12-19-2009 06:11 AM

Since the windows automatically drop a little when entering/exiting the vehicle, tint can be tricky. Mine took 3 tinting attempts to finally get it right - the tinter wasnt pleased lol.

geez, what do we do about the window dropping every time the doors are opened?

MightyBobo 12-19-2009 07:20 AM

You need to literally have your tinter keep the windows up for a good hour+ after the tinting is done, to let it dry out. Thats what did the trick for me.

If you go to a tinter who knows how to deal with this it's not a problem...The tint needs to extend below the seal.

If it doesn't go below the seal, you're going to F up your tint job the first few days by just opening and closing the door. (remember our windows go up and down a bit when you get in/out)

dalparadise 12-19-2009 09:59 AM

For now, to stop the peeling, why not X-Acto off the corners that are curling up?

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam. I know the black interior is contributing, but that looks DARK. Looks tight tho. Congrats!

Something about a good oil change makes it feel like my birthday :icon17:

JakeZ34 12-19-2009 10:33 PM

^ I know I felt like the car is completely new again after the break-in change lol

gleonard 12-20-2009 02:53 AM

Makes me want to tint my windows. I have a silver w/black interior as well... looks good!

SilverBullet 12-20-2009 02:55 AM

Tint looks good.

Pushing_Tin 12-20-2009 03:33 AM

FYI, you can tape the little sensor on the door frame down so that your windows don't auto up/down.

Won't that pose a problem with sealing the window upon closing? Or worse...? Not sure, just askin'.

suscribed because i think steve might have a point but i dunno, and sheesh go to bed steve i thought i was the only one up right now

AK370Z 12-20-2009 06:15 AM

Tint looks great. But your Z is missing something. It's missing THE370Z decals! :icon17:

Have patience. Try not to put the window down for as long as you can tolerate. Great job on the tint.

Yeap, the tint needs to go below the window seal. Is not going to matter how long you let it dry is going to peel again and again.

kannibul 12-20-2009 11:10 AM

Smoother accelleration because of the tint or because of the oil change?

In either case, seriously? Talk about placebo effect... =/

JakeZ34 12-20-2009 01:09 PM

hahah smooth acceleration because of the oil change since it was running on break-in oil. But yeah I check the tint everyday and so far it has not peel yet, Keep in mind I went to the best of the best that is recommended by a lot of people, even police and CHP uses them to tint their cars. The total charge was $229.99 with life time warranty, I have faith in the people who did it because I saw a picture album and they've done many many 350Z which also has that same window up and down feature.
