Roof cargo rack thing?

Obviously shitty form an aesthetic point of view but I'm going on a long road trip, wanted to take the Z. So I wanted to free up some cargo space and see if anyone's done one of those roof cargo things?

I ask because the edges of the roof (above the windows) seem like they can break off easily. Don't want to loose my things mid way lol.

If not a rental will do... I guess.

It wouldn't look cool, but I think your only option for more cargo is a trailer.

A cargo bag may be a better choice than a rack. You should be able to load it so that the load is evenly spread across the top instead of concentrated at four points. Blankets in the bottom will probably help. YMMV

I saw those on Amazon, my concern with those is we don't have a window frame so I'd pretty much have to roll with my windows slightly open.

99% chance you will scratch you paint or put a dent on your roof. Use another car if you stuff won't fit in the back.
My :twocents:

If you decide to go forward with it anyway, make sure your roof is washed and put a little foam between the bag and the paint. Brand new urethane foam might work good and give a little extra friction on the paint to keep it from shifting (scratching). Also, if you have something flapping in the wind against your paint, it will scratch it.

Have you looked into a tray that slides into a trailer hitch receiver? You'd have to get a hitch, but most likely would be undetectable when the tray is not in use.

I have one for my Commander that I use quite often.
