sorry to hear about crash |
Important thing for your Pops to remember is you'll be safe in this car much like your mother ended up.
Did I read this is your first car? Wow....lucky lucky. My first car was a Maverick, one of the ugliest cars ever built and it was that cool rust color...wait a minute...It was just all RUST! |
Could you explain what you mean by "popped the clutch"? Would like to know if it prevents me from getting in an accident. Thanks.

i wish i had never seen this... i'm sorry to hear, and glad everyone is okay!.. too bad the nismo got hurt ...
|
thats not getting totaled out is it ?
|
looks like a rear axle at most, maybe some suspension. some body of course and airbag work. doubt it's a total on a 40k car.
glad to hear your mom wasn't hurt of course. |
I am sad to see the car damamged, but your story doesn't seem to add up....
Lets see..... You got home after driving with the VDC off. You got of the car and left it running. Your mom got into the car to go get food. She got in an accident. What has me confused.... The pass side air bags went off, but without someone in the pass seat aren't the pass air bags not active?? Who was in the seat? You left the car running when you got home. So you knew she was going to go out to get food?? Seems like I am missing something.....or you are leaving something out. Come on....what's the whole story? |

If you are going 60 MPH on a curve on wet roads and you are coasting with the clutch in. If you drop the clutch in 2nd, the mechanical drag of the motor may cause the wheels to spin and rear to step out. The wheels will actually spin slower, so it will be like stabbing the brakes. The VDC cannot disengage the clutch. I do not know if VDC will add throttle to reduce engine braking....I would doubt it. So it could happen. More severe in a non-SRM car---or if SRM is off. |
If this is true, I'm sorry to hear it and I'm glad everyone is ok. Once you restart the car vdc comes on automatically, and I wouldn't ever let my mother drive my Z. That's like asking to sleep with my wife, if I had one.
