I’ve been fixing every little thing I can find wrong with the car and prepping it for “winter” use. Since the last update, which I don’t remember:

Fixed the door checks
Got a cheap eBay duckbill (looks like my old one from fly1 I had) and got it painted.
Installed the Z1 Brake calipers and their street pads
Brake fluid is now on MOTUL 5.1
Replaced the front sway bar bushings with the billet ones available from hotchkiss
Used dry lubricant on the SPL endlinks
Swapped the Diode dynamics SAE driving lenses for the yellow fog lenses
Replaced the lightning cable with a USB-C cable for car play (finally).
Replaced the power steering fluid.

Next on the list:
265/40R18 all season tires for the ADVANs that I can reuse from my WRX I sold
The tint needs to be redone. Going lighter all around.
Gear oil changes
Eventually installing all of the parts in my garage including a new full face clutch to replace the racing clutch and the front motor stuff.
Figure out what to do with the headlights. I’d like to use the lens replacements so I can keep the standard look with my LED conversion. On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind updating the projector with a new one.

Sorry to hear of the struggles with the Mori's. I'm none too happy about seeing all the lens cloudiness issues popping up now as I replaced my OE lights lenses with Mori's.

Yeah I was hit back in May, but had to way for the diffuser to get made. Now trying to figure out my headlight issue. Starting to think it could be on my side, what are the odds of receiving 3 defective headlights?

Hello gents, over the weekend I dusted and vacuumed the inside of my Z. I also washed and detailed my car. I also changed my oil using 5 quarts of the Nissan Ester oil and the Nissan oil filter. I always buy an extra quart and pour it in the motor with the drain plug off to help flush out the lower oil pan. I also drained and filled my radiator using the Nissan blue coolant.

While doing so, I installed new O - rings on the radiator drain plug and the radiator air bleed plug. I lubricated them with clean coolant. I also installed a new Nissan radiator cap and Nissan coolant bottle cap. Filling the radiator is easy, so if anyone wants instructions let me know and I'll post it up.

The Z runs just like the day I bought her brand new. I have 106k on her now. I might be selling her for a trade in on a new Nissan Frontier. I moved to Northern Utah from SoCal and I need a vehicle to better accommodate the lifestyle here and the weather.

I would be sad to let my car go.

Ha! Same boat: Mine got 8 hours of polishing with Sonax, then some Evo Pure from Gyeon. Also in Utah but down south in the desert... my girl would never let me sell the Z so we might sell her BMW for something that's more outdoor/gravel road/trailhead/winter friendly...

btw: for those polishing with a Torq D/A - I figured out recently running it at LOWER speed and even lifting off to remove weight against the car = better results. Counter intuitive, but nice to not have to listen to it being loud...and the car shine is insane again! All in the prep as they say...not "fun" but the old ceramic from Cquartz was 2.5 years old and basically gone on the tops of the vehicle.

Gyeon Evo Pure is super easy to install/remove - I think the biggest issue is for those in higher humidity environments = not fun...

That explains why I have gone through and asked for an "update" to those 3+ year old videos reviewing those on youtube - so far no responses so I'm guessing there's def. Q/A issues...

Might just pull mine apart and black out the chrome and go for the basic lens update... about $400 from the retrofit source and the "fun" of trying not to break anything :stirthepot:

I ordered some all-season tires for the second set of wheels i have. 265/40R18 Advan Sport A/S+ square on the 18.9.5 Advan RSIII wheels.

Temps are going to drop next week, so now is the time to get them on.

abm89 10-27-2023 11:51 AM

And right after i got my tires i think the top hat finally failed hahaha. 12 years old 150k miles 30+ track days

No fuel pressure, pump has power and runs. I'm awaiting a tow truck but im sure it's the top hat.

abm89 10-29-2023 12:05 AM

Loop hose from pump to basket was loose. Easy fix

All of that with the OE Pump hat!?! Sooooo lucky, 0 TD's here and busted at 85k miles, then the internal fuel pressure regulator went out.

abm89 10-29-2023 06:59 PM

Turns out the top hat is fine! Visual inspection showed no signs of cracking

TreeSemdyZee 10-29-2023 07:13 PM

How do you get a top hat in a Z? I can barely wear my baseball cap. :roflpuke2::roflpuke2:

Thoroughly washed my Z and let it to dry in the garage. Tomorrow onwards it's winter hibernation until April for the Z.

During winter we get a lot of **** on the road, the road itself gets heavily damaged - potholes get water in, it freezes and holes grow exponentially. We also have enough snow and crap that driving a lowered car in those conditions is virtually impossible. Lastly, our roads in winter are covered not only with fine gravel, but salt as well, and I don't want salt on the Z.

Also, we've got a 4x4 for daily use, that's more than perfect for the winter shenanigans

I had a cyclist jump behind me and draft my car through a 35 mph zone. I can't imagine it helped much but he hung in there.
