As the implications of Heller work their way through caselaw, the 1986 GCA should be declared unconstitutional.

Heck, the 9th Circuit declared Hawaii's blanket ban on carry was unconstitional! If that isn't a "pigs fly" moment in American jurisprudence, I'm not sure what would qualify.

PS
I wanna BAR too!

Had the Rev9 dual exhaust installed this morning. It was $350 shipped and I hope that makes you angry. I'm happy to pay for quality, but I just had to try it since I was considering the HKS Hi-Power for 3x the price.

It's 304 stainless with mandrel bends and the shop commented that the flanges and hardware/gaskets provided were nice ones. The welds and build quality looked really good to me. They said it installed very easily and lined up without a problem.

Chose Rev9 since it looked to be nicer than the other ones on eBay, didn't like how others put the helmholtz resonator's bracket on the bottom. This one puts it on top like HKS does. Also prefer dual walled stainless tips vs the single walled titanium. Was well packaged and shipped from California to Texas without issue.

I was ready to hate it and buy the "real" exhaust, but... it's pretty nice. I'm very pleasantly surprised. Nice rumble at idle, no drone, quite when cruising, loud WOT, a little gargling on the overrun, but it's still breaking in so will see.

Interesting to see how your experience differed. Mine was kinda quiet at high rpms and not beefy also made a weird air rushing sound too, no leaks. Mine also had a drone and it wasn't a nice drone, kinda like what you'd expect from a honda when you get into lower gears but higher rpms. I've since gone with another exhaust that I absolutely love that hasn't left me wanting more besides awaiting my test pipes to compliment :driving:

Honestly I'm still on the fence with it. I wanted something that was just a tad more aggressive than OEM. And to get that "VQ sound" which it did. This one basically changed the entire character of the car though. Used to be all induction and rpms, now it's pretty exhaust heavy. I'm coming from turbo cars, so I'm still getting used to it.

What'd you switch to?

Fast Intentions bandwagon  :happydance:

CRiZO 08-08-2018 01:40 PM

Nice, they give it that exotic sound I really like.

Which exhaust did you have, Rev9 or another? Surprised yours was so different. This one has an h-pipe while some of the others are x-pipe, but mostly the same.

ColtronZ 08-08-2018 01:45 PM

Should be the same exact one you have.

Weird. Mines pretty throaty at higher rpms. Guess that's what you get for $350, a mystery :icon17:

The main issue I have with it is the fitment. It's good, but I'm a stickler and the tips being a little off will drive me crazy. One is a hair lower, and they're both centered but more towards the inside of the cutouts.

May pay the shop to cut and weld to get it perfect, but I still may opt for a more what-it-should-have-been-from-the-factory sounding Borla or something.

Just so other people know. :tiphat:

How would you compare this to the Fast Intentions? Louder, quieter? More boomy? tia

ChopsZ 08-08-2018 09:47 PM

Had my Z up on the rack today installing the BC BR coilovers. Pretty easy, straight forward install, though it took us about 7 hours because we were just talking for the first hour and last hour, going at our leisure during, as well as a nice hour lunch break.

At any rate, I lifted the car up some and set the rebound to the 20th click towards full "Stiff".

A few pics of the new ride height...
