Got mine some amount of weeks ago... sadly this has nothing to do with any of my issues with the car I think. haha.
|
I got the letter and noticed that recently, the pump shuts off before the tank is full every time. I called the dealer and said the CEL should pop up if this is the issue. They said they'd visually inspect it...which won't do anything.
Anyone know if this is true? I guess it could also be my gauge not being correct. |

Anyone else get a letter about Evap tube from Nissan NA?
I recently got a CEL and I cannot fill my gas tank. I replaced the Evap control Valve (solenoid) PN 14930-JK20E up front on the engine but still cannot pump gas into gas tank without pressure building. I called Nissan NA and got a case number and they made an appointment for the diagnostic of the vapor tubing, which I will probably get charged because of my FI exhaust. We will see.
I also went to a mechanic- who tried to screw me for $650 for a new canister and purge shut off valve. He wanted 200 bucks and 98 bucks in labor to install the purge valve and $186 in labor fro the canister. Lol. Not today. I am going to do it myself. So here is the real issue.... my car isn't my daily driver, it has only 13k miles on it since I bought it in 2009...I drive it about once a month and stomp the Sh*& out of it occasionally. Why did my vapor tubing get clogged? And If my canister is bad, why? If I go to the dealership they have a few parts to possibly change that are not covered by the Extended Evap warranty (vapor Canister, Control solenoid up front, Purge Valve, and the pressure sensor located at the canister. Is it time or use that is making the evap system fail? To Be Cont........dreading going to the Stealership!!!! I found this too... https://www.nissan-techinfo.com/asis.../V/I/1VI38.PDF |

It may help to slow the flow from the nozzle way down when refueling until you can get the problem fixed. Edit: Look at figure 2 in the PDF you posted a link to. The tube I am talking about is the one that runs from the tank to about 3/4 of the way up the filler tube. Going by the drawing, the tube is external to the fill tube, not in it. |
In any event one should never top off the tank by easing fuel into it. Once the auto shut off on the pump (dispenser) stops that should be all you take. Overfilling causes all the tubes, charcoal canister etc. to fill with fuel and shortens their service life.
