Half dead clutch?

Hey guys, I have a 2016 base model in Canada, got it in Aug of 2015, about 20 000km on it now. It's my first manual car. My winter beater got into an accident so I have to drive my Z around fora bit this winter.

I had it in storage since November and it's my second time driving it today to work. I had my oil and fluids changed couple weeks before storage. I noticed the first 35ish% of the top of the clutch feels dead and the engagement point is pretty high so it's very hard for me to shift right now.. pretty much dead until engagement point.

I read about the csc failures and am scared that this is the early signs of it.

Is it just cause the fluids are cold/ need to be changed? Or should I call dealership for the csc failure? I did do the spring mod for the clutch, is it the spring? Did I mess up my clutch somehow?lol

Thanks guys

For someone not experienced with manuals the 370 isnt the easiet manual, just keep driving it and youll adjust and all will be well. Also the engagement point is pretty high with this car and you really dont get any feedback from clutch pedal! Check your fluid, if its good id say your fine and just been reading too much and looking for problems. Enjoy your car man, its an awesome machine!!

I'd say I got pretty use to the clutch and engagement point by now, which is why I'm scared because it feels really different right now than what I'm use to( when I drive it in the summer/ warmer weather). The top 35-40% of the clutch has lost all its pressure, when I step on it I don't feel any resistance like I use to

I can literally gently tap the clutch with my toes and it'll sink to the engagement point. I also feel like the engagement point moved lower a bit because of this problem.

Speaking of which, regarding the CSC, has Nissan been replacing them under warranty, or do they call it a wear and tear item? Because if it's the latter, that's absolute BS.

They normally cover it under the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. Some dealers do cover it under the powertrain warranty, 5yr/60,000 miles others do not. Not sure why.

It could be that the cold weather is affecting the "feel" of the clutch … IDK since I've never driven my Z in the winter … however, like Hilla_Killa suggested, check your clutch fluid. If the fluid level is low and/or the fluid is discoloured (dark, blackish with or without bits of residue), it could suggest a failure of the CMC or CSC. It's a quick check that could put your mind at ease … otherwise, take it to the dealer since the vehicle is still under warranty.

Check my thread from about a week ago in the Engine/Drivetrain section. I am the original owner of my 2009 Z and it has been well maintained and not tracked or abused. Mileage is 65K. When you drive a car daily for months or years you know how it feels. My clutch pedal felt very soft. I had the dealer flush and refill with DOT4 Nissan GTR Fluid. It still felt like crap. A few days later the CSC failed. Cost to replace the CSC and Clutch Master Cylinder was $1687. If you are still under warranty have both cylinders replaced.
