Disable "Honk" feature with alarm?

I already RTFM but I didn't see an option to turn the "honk" off when you arm/disarm the alarm from the remote. Is it possible to have the lights flash only?

yes there is. read the owner's manual I did it on my 08 Altima Coupe with the same intelligent key. I believe you hold down the lock and unlock together for about 10 seconds or so until the blinkers blink and you've just disabled the honk feature while locking your doors.

As stated I RTFM and didn't find anything - do you have a page number for those of us too challenged to find it in the manual?

Thanks!

as I stated in my post, I havn't gone through the Z manual for it but I don't have access to one either (Z is in the shop) and in my 08 Altima Coupe with Intelligent Key it stated to press and hold the lock and unlock button until seeing the blinkers blink. Have you tried that? I think it should work the same as the Altima.

Yup I did try it and it worked - thanks for the help!

Oh and you do have access to the manual

ha yeah this was the first thing I did when I picked my car up. There is also a way to roll the windows half-way down with the fob IIRC...

Thanks for posting this. That honk was annoying me.

j.arnaldo 12-04-2009 10:31 AM

Yep, I hate the honk feature, too. I don't need to let my neighbors know I just activated the Z's "security" (NEVER trust the OEM "security", dudes; get a Mul-T-Lock or something else!).

Yep this was the first thing I did as well. Although, I did like the beeping sound when you pressed the button on the door when the honking was enabled. But now that's also disabled. I don't get why they didn't go with that sound, its sounds exactly like my bro's IS250 alarm.

Is there a way to have the beeping sound when you lock the car from the key FOB?

darkROAM_1 12-04-2009 01:28 PM

Yeah the beeping w/ the fob would be cool but nowadays I just get in and out of the car w/ the fob in my pocket at all times. Just had to get used to pressing the lock on the car.

It seems that when I unlock w/ the button, the car will not auto lock itself at all. I found that out the fun way of going out to my car the next morning and finding it still unlocked hehe.

How do you get it to roll down the windows with the fob?

Hold down the unlock button for several seconds and voila!
