it's true that rev limiter will shut off car? nismo version too?
Hey
Just been told if I keep the revs up drifting constantly the motor will shut off. Is this true? does it apply to the Nismo version as well? how much are they going to limit the 370z? ridiculous. Thanks |
BULLSHÏT.
/thread Who said that by the way? If it was the sales guy, laugh in his face and bet him a couple thousand dollars. If it was a service guy, RUN. |

Motor wont shut off but if you dont have an oil cooler you will definitely hit limp mod
|
I've haven't read anything about the engine shutting down on high revs - but maybe I missed it. If it does, it should say so in the OM or FSM.

I offered $400 and he wasn't sure. >_> Anyways. I'll have to take it easy on the track. Freaking Nissan messing up like this. Unbelievable. What did you think people were going to do with a sports car? use it for grocery shopping? dafaq |

its a pretty stupid thing to make a sports car do. |

There is a fix for that.

It's not a track car. Nissan didn't engineer it to be one. It can be made track ready fairly easy.

It probably goes to limp mode to protect itself. Stop whining and just set up your car to what you want for do. And if you ask to share one more time I will consider you a communist. Lots of info on track set up here.

But, yeah, I would get a little nervous above 6500 or so when I had my Z. You get over it. :driving: |

If you are running up against the rev limiter. The rev limiter will cut power. Like ALL other cars. The stock setting on the Z is 7,800 rpms. Don't expect the engine to live long there. The oil pump gears will fail at some point. If you still have the VDC on. It WILL cut power when it senses slip, and apply a rear brake caliper through the ABS to straighten the car up. With it off, it will still be some what active. You have to wire a switch in the power wire to the yaw sensor. Nothing ridiculous. This is a street car, not a track car to begin with. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG5YlK6r9mY BTW, has anyone else noticed that the OP hasn't showed back up at all? I wonder why... LOL |
Yea.....it sounded kind of flat.....:driving:  :icon17:
He hasn't been on since 11/20. |
OPs question reminded me of something that happened to me. A couple of times (once my brother, once me driving his car) we forgot to turn off the traction control.
His BP turbo creates enough power (as would any other turbo'd zi assume) to overcome the factory traction control, at least until the car enabled limp mode, and left the car powerless. Not an issue now with the ecutek tune, but it was scary as hell. Immediate thought is "the motor just "·$% the bed!" |
