My Z got hit

1 Attachment(s)
So i was at my parents in law's house on saturday for most of the day, and when i came out in the afternoon i found someone hit my Z on the front fender and passenger door. Never heard anything while inside the house and no note was left from the a$$hat that did this :shakes head:

Needless to say im very frustrated and will be going to the shop i normally go to get an estimate of the damages. Although the shop has done a great job when working on my wifes car and the Z, im pretty bummed it will never look the same.

This is the 2nd time my Z has been hit and its so frustrating to think that im the most ocd person i know and sh!t like this keeps happening. On the other hand, i know its something that can be fixed, that im lucky that it wasnt much worse and that at least i get to say that i own a great car like the Z and dont have rely on walking or taking the bus to move around. :ugh2:

Thanks to all for reading if you made it this far and sorry for the rant.

Z-Girl 12 11-08-2016 05:42 PM

I know right? Not even a note. Now most of the money to pay for the damages will come out of my pocket.

axmea? 11-08-2016 05:53 PM

What a hassle. The good thing is it is very much repairable.

P's_Z 11-08-2016 05:58 PM

Thanks for the kind words, my friend

I wouldnt have been so mad if it had been on the front bumper, that way i wouldve had an excuse to do a '15 nismo conversion like you :tiphat:

Danthe370zman 11-08-2016 06:01 PM

Man I'm sorry to hear that. I feel your pain, someone did the same to a 635CSI I owned a few years back, crushed in the front fender, no note, nothing... all I can say is they'll get whats coming to them eventually.. sorry A-holes.

So sorry you are having to deal with this. People these days have no respect. Hope it gets fixed up good as new with a minimum of hassle.

:tiphat:

Thanks!

Hoping to have her ready before the holidays, but we'll wait and see.

Memphis370Z 11-08-2016 07:12 PM

Really sorry to hear about this. Similar thing happened to me at ZDayZ, of all places, earlier this year. I'm sure your shop can fix it right though. Keep us posted.

P's_Z 11-08-2016 07:25 PM

Thanks bro. :tiphat:

Good to hear from you, hope youre doing good, and sorry about what happened to you too :shakes head:

The shop i go to has done a few jobs on my Z and my wifes car, including fixing the first hit my Z took and they color matched and straightend my bumper to perfection

sofaonasock 11-08-2016 07:32 PM

Have you tried Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 and/or Paintless Dent Removal?

I was able to remove some of the scratches, but some go all the way down to the metal. The shop i go to has a guy that does the paintless dent removal, and thats gonna be my first choice, since i dont want them bondo-ing all of my door and fender, but i think its gonna be inevitable for them to fill in some parts. Its a crappy pic, it really doesnt do justice to the ugliness of the hit when looked up close.

ChopsZ 11-08-2016 09:10 PM

Precisely why I hate most people. And even if they do leave information, it's all bogus just to "look" like they're doing the right thing by people who saw it happen.

Ventruck 11-08-2016 10:56 PM

Sucks dude. Had someone hit my fender while parked as well. Difference was, he was a city/gov worker on job and pretty much obligated to call it in (his insurance saves his *** anyway). I JUST got my deductible refunded like last week, and this happened in July.

I didn't even bother pursuing refund for the POS Jetta I rented (and returned early because it sucked that much).

There's a lot to dwell into in terms of the outlook of drivers/driving/automobile ownership. I do think the bar has to be raised some way to qualify for a driver's license. I'd even go as far to issue renewal tests because there are seriously people who can't control >2,000lbs of moving metal roaming the streets on a regular basis. Really, the only people I can *trust* on the road are people in much more expensive cars, faster cars, or 18 wheelers. They know about the abstracts of driving, like have perspective of space and not being an idiot, and apparently don't want their car ****ed up either.

BboyZ 11-08-2016 11:09 PM

How can someone hit a car like that and pretend nothing happen and just drive away? At least the damage is not revere.

sp911 11-09-2016 05:50 AM

people, they're the worst!

kenchan 11-09-2016 06:31 AM

People suck. Sorry to see.

:iagree:

I think if someone wouldve left bogus info, id be a$$hole hunting right now because i would have definitely tried to find the prick

And i thought i had it bad :shakes head: sorry to hear that man.

:iagree: driving is a privilege and its importance is sometimes underrated, unfortunately :ugh2:

Except you guys, you guys are cool

P's_Z 11-09-2016 06:17 PM

Well, a bit of an update: went to the shop this morning and got an estimate... $1,278.29 including taxes :eekdance:

Also set up an appointment with my insurance company for next wednesday. Really hope to have this solved asap :shakes head:

Will keep you guys posted

Actually that's about what I had quoted as well.

$500 deductible (which like I said, eventually got refunded).

Another $80 out of my pocket got my front bumper repainted (general wear) at discount. The garbo Jetta was like $130. I should've just indulged in something for the weekend if I knew I was going to pay for that.

P's_Z 11-18-2016 06:43 PM

So a bit of an update, left my car at the shop yesterday and was told it will probably be ready by next wednesday before tksgiving :happydance:

On the flipside, while waiting for my wife to pick me up at the shop, she got into a fender bender and hit the car in front of her, less than a mile away from the shop :shakes head:

Talk about bad luck, but at least shes ok and the damage was minimal. Still, now we got to fix her car once the Z is out of the shop :ugh2:

BboyZ 11-18-2016 07:18 PM

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Glad she OK.

Mine got shotgunned by gravel on I-71 by a big rig on my way back from NY just outside Cleveland. She's in the shop currently getting a fresh coat and a new windshield and I'm currently stuck driving a Jeep Compass 5spd rental car with no power steering and no power locks. :shakes head:
