Future 370z owner with questions

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a 370z and came across one that I'm interested in. Since the wife and I will be driving it, it has to be a 7AT factory (no mods) and a backup camera is a must. I've been doing a lot of research (thanks to this forum and all it's members for the valuable info) but this one one seems different from the norm.

1. Are those stock exhaust pipes or has this been modded
2. I believe this is the sports model (since it has paddle shifters and red brakes), but why does it have the 18" rims and not the 19?
3. Anything else that sticks out?

I understand that this is a high price. Looking to negotiate it down to 17.5-18. Since a fully loaded 7AT is very hard to come by, should I just purchase for the list price?

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are experts here that will be far more helpful than myself. In fact you probably should just ignore my post, but I'm flying home and bored.

I bought a 2014 in April after a YEAR of research so I feel like I know a little bit, but not about your year and trim. But, let me take a stab:

I'm fairly certain that is stock exhaust. A quick look underneath or listening to it would tell you for sure.

On a manual, the tell tale sign of sport package is the rev match. Not sure about auto, but I'm sure someone else would know. If it is a sport then the prior owner did a wheel swap. Not bad by an means, but makes you wonder a little and certainly impacts the value.

I was surprised that the price is in line with NADA. However depending on your budget, and urgency I'd try to get one with lower miles.

Not a sports package. Those are the non sport brakes painted red. Keep looking until you find one with a spotless package.

:iagree: shop around for sports package. also, search in the forum you might find something that you will like.

Looks like a base/touring model that someone painted the caliper's on....with that milage;i'd check to see if the tranny has been serviced...and getting close to a set of plugs too.
All else looks norm from the outside.

My 2011 is very similar to that vehicle. Auto, non sport, no leather, about 33k sticker new. Had a lot of fun with it and the paddle shifters. 12.9 1/4 mile best time bone stock. The good memories...

Sold it for $16k with 70k miles private party 8 month ago

:iagree: with Chuck, take your time and get what you want. There are plenty of cars out there.

Take your time searching, I spent over 6 months researching information and data(much of which on this very forum) before I finally bit the bullet so to speak. The split spoke wheels are the first, but NOT only, indicator for a sport package. Red calipers that say "NISSAN" on the side are sport package calipers so as mentioned above, this is not a Sport. Plus, you'd know those rotors if you saw them because they're actually quite BIG at I believe around 14". I know that 2013 and newer Touring have a back up camera but in all honesty a camera can be installed aftermarket for very little money so you shouldn't consider that a deal breaker.

If or when you buy, keep in mind winter is just weeks away, and most likely if you don't buy it, it will be on the lot all winter... That being said negotiate, negotiate! I think you can get a better price!

If ur going to buy used, atleast get a better trim aka with Sports Package

Jinro 10-30-2016 07:16 AM

Thanks everyone. Knowing that they have been painted over vs being the factory, I'm going to continue my search. Def agree with everyone that I feel I have more negotiating power once winter rolls around.

I've been searching for a z for a little over a month now but the search continues....hope everyone enjoys their Halloween

To high of a price for a base Z with 60+K miles.
15k is a fair price. In my opinion.

2012 could be upgraded with the nav system. I believe this is a touring model without the sports package, it includes the bose system. There is nothing wrong with the 2012 model, they did upgrade the 2013 model. The good thing about the sport package is of course the better shocks, bigger brakes and the slip diff. I would not necessarily rule this purchase out. The exhaust is stock. Do your homework, check kBB, check maintenance records if you can, get them to lower the price some and I think you would have a good deal. You can always upgrade the brakes, hell you can upgrade almost everything on the car. This is part of a review 2012 from car connection. Two base trim lines and an optional sport package are available on both the 2012 370Z Coupe and Roadster. An upgraded NISMO model caps the Z range.
Base models include cruise control, power windows, and keyless entry/start as standard equipment. An optional navigation upgrade includes a 9.3-GB hard-drive-based music storage system and iPod interface. Dynamic audio and climate controls help keep things comfortable during top-down driving with the Roadster. The Roadster also comes standard with a power-folding soft top that opens and closes in about 20 seconds.

The Touring models add a Bose audio system, plus Bluetooth, satellite radio, ventilated power leather seats, lumbar support, and HID headlights. Adding the sport package to any trim brings a viscous limited-slip rear differential, 19-inch RAYS forged aluminum alloy wheels, upgraded high-performance tires, a body-color rear spoiler and a front chin spoiler.

All the manual shifts come with Rev match, doesn't matter the package.

Are you sure? SRM is not on the base models for many model years. When did they change to having it standard?

jaedub 10-31-2016 11:56 AM

In addition to all the comments, those are not stock exhaust. I'm not sure what kind of brand it is but it's definitely aftermarket product.

Chuck is right SRM is only available on sport models not in a base model.
That is why getting a base over a sport model is a wrong decision to make if you are trully into modding cars.

It will cost you more to do it yourself to get all the sport package goodies.

370zBoyz 10-31-2016 03:05 PM

just based on those wheels you can tell it's not a real sport model..the real sport has 19" RAYS wheels..someone just painted the calipers red

that is false...only the sport package (manual) or Nismo comes with synchro rev match..unless you get an automatic

gbrettin 11-18-2016 09:51 PM

Looks like the exhaust is Fast Intentions.
