As some of you know i got my car back from shop this week from the wreck over 5 weeks ago. For the most part car seems o.k. A few minor issues they will fix this week hopefully.
With that being said i drove my car over the thanksgiving weekend went to austin then drove to fort worth to watch TCU and NEW MEX. well on the way home a warning light comes on (in the manual it says tps) Well i have a base model with the sports package, did not think that i had tps ?? What do you guys think ?

You do. I think you need to check your tire pressure. (you may have picked up a nail)

All Nissan come with Tire pressure monitors. We have that problem alot, there's always screws and nails in body shops!

Nope,only Nissan in U.S. market got T.P.S. as standard.

Question.....did you have to get new tires after the accident? If so, they may not have "married" the TPMS to the new tires. I had this issue when I got my stock rims and tires replaced with Volk rims and Bridgestone tires. The TPMS lit up right away like a Christmas tree. Had to go to the dealer to get them to fix it.

If you didn't have new tires put on then I'd agree you may just need to check your tire pressure.

Yes i got 3 new tires and 3 new rims. but the light is not on now. Should i get them to check it out?

Nitrogen works the best when filling up your tires. It leaks out a bit slower and isnt effected by tempature as easily. Whenever I have dramatic tempature changes outside my light comes on. I live in the desert and some times its 40 degrees in the middle of the night and 80 degrees during the day. My light is on when I drive to work in the morning, and is off when I drive home in the evening. From my understanding, the tps is sensitive and only takes 3psi to make the sensor activate. So you may have to top her off monthly.

Your TPMS needs to be recalibrated. I just had mine recalibrated last week. I takes them 3 minutes if that but they'll charge you half hour (which is $53 in my area :rolleyes:). Every time you put new wheels with TPMS, you have to do this. Also, I'd visually inspect all 4 tires for nails.

Thank GOD we did! Driving in the States is like trying to play hopscotch in a minefield. Most motorists are totally inept, incompetent, and or ignorant of what safe driving is. I would have to say 99.99% of the motorists out there never do pre-flight checks before driving off. Meaning they NEVER stop to check their tire pressure, oil level, coolant level, brake fluid level, power steering fluid level, windshield wash level, spare tire pressure, etc.

I have been driving since year 2000 which isn't a long time. In my 9 years of driving history I have seen hundreds of thousands of under inflated tires. I have seen people driving on their rims with the tires smoking on a Honda CRV at 75 mph! I have seen several half ton pickup trucks and SUVs with tire blowouts on the Freeway after driving several miles on an under inflated tire. It is simply not safe. I probably should have been dead by now.

I have left dozens of notes already on parked cars with under inflated tires. Especially on one occasion on I15 between Vegas and Orange County there was a black Ford Mustang with a nearly flat tire on the drivers side. Parked at a McDonalds parking lot. If I didn't leave that note, guaranteed that driver would have had a tire blowout that day. It would have been nasty.

But even with TPMS it is still not fool proof. Motorists will still ignore them just like the oil pressure lights and a temperature gauge showing an engine overheat condition. They ignore them because they are ignorant of them. Their minds are clouded with other things like sex, work, school, and entertainment.

It would be nice to drive some kind of armored vehicle. It's too dangerous out there. I am sharing the road with so many motorists that simply are not very bright.

Went to dealer for free oil change , they fixed , reset , or whatever to the tps. it's working so far I inspected the tires for nails , etc.. did not see anything. thanks guys for the info i will keep an eye on this. The giy at the dealer remembered my car because the body shop which is next door used them to do the alignment. (Dealer does not have shop ??) The shop was an authorized repair shop of my ins.The dealer uses them for all body repairs.

ht- tpms can sometimes create error messages so dont worry too much.
