First road trip in Z.

I have a house in BC and another in Alberta, so I go back and forth a fair bit. For anyone who hasn't made the drive, I highly recommend it; those mountain roads in the summer are pure bliss.

(Here's the route)

I was a little apprehensive to take my new Z on such a drive. 2 seater, rough, heavy steering, etc. etc. not exactly a GT ... but I did it.

Colour me surprised; I had a hoot on those twisty roads! The smiles:miles ratio was off the charts.

To begin with, the seats are surprisingly comfortable for long drives. The suspension is much more civilized over road imperfections than I imagined, while still helping the car to remain composed at - dare I admit - law-breaking speeds. :) Also surprising, the Z has remarkable grip on wet highway at high speeds - I wasn't able to test it limits while driving (slightly) north of the speed limit.

Bottom line, I find the little Z is an extremely entertaining car to drive on the highway, yet still comfortable enough to make longer trips a joy.

The only thing I'd recommend first is to line the hatch some sound-deadener. That little thing does wonders to cut down tire-roar on more pebbly highway surfaces.

Cheers!

Looks like you had fun! Road trips in the Z are always fun! Except for rock chips on my hood.

Awesome. I love those twisties!

Haven't been that route but want to take the Z from Calgary to Kelowna this summer. Done that drive before in the S4 Avant and it was great. Am sure the Z will be even better :)

I put over 400k on my Z in 6 years...tell me about road trips. Lol If you want a fun drive...Van to Mexico on the coast!

I did toronto to halifax including a few loops of Cape Breton last year.

This yea did to.zdayz , several dragon runs and then to NJ and then home. Aside from a few hiccups that had nothing to do with the engine the z is incredibly reliable and fun as fk.

Muffler issues due to reasons unknown and a sidewall puncture :(

Any major repairs with that kind of mileage?

We're planning this this summer. Down to Tijuana!

I may do a post about the drive.

400k! How's the engine after all that? (Oh **** ... hearing the theme to Chariots of Fire suddenly).

East Coast, Cape Breton ... awesome twisty roads!

Muffler issues, hopefully not "washer mod" related. Hah.

LOL ... My Z had its first service while I was in Edmonton. :D

That dealership was awesome, much better than the ones I've visited in BC (long-ish, mostly boring, story).

Came.off the hanger and somehow the bolts were loose and muffler fell from y pipe. Got it back on myself in fontana with some help from the waifu mazoc and the village.

Had a sidewall nail on my re11. Fml.

Cape Breton was okay. The Highlands were fun since roads were empty and I got to get a bit spirited.

Nothing compared to tail of the dragon. The skyway was like a longer version of the Highlands in the Cape. Except longer, 5000ft elevation (vs under 1000 on breton) lol the car is fun.
