its generally not recommended to let a cold motor idle in those temperatures...you should only give it about 30 sec or so to get the oil moving throughout and then proceeed with a light foot. this will decrease the amount of time the engine is operating at colder temperatures
|
Is it really cold in Memphis ??

and yea i tried it just to see what happens... we have 2 fobs anyway so why not... on my buddies bmw 550i he can lock his car, put his fob in the trunk and close it and it will beep at him and open his trunk again, pretty awesome imo |
My gfs G35 does the same thing with the trunk.
My guess is that the button on the handle doesn't work while the car is running, only the interior switches, auto lock/unlock, and the lock/unlock buttons on the keyfob itself. |
No I haven't tried it yet to find out for myself. :p
|
It's against the law the leave a car running unattended in the UK!
But I might try it anyway ;) |

Nice vid - notice that the Corvette crosses the yellow line once and cuts the corner. Very bad form.

in germany i had a wesbastos heater in my bmr...
Preheating systems Webasto's remote-operated, engine-off preheating systems provide the tangible benefits of warmth and window defrost while offering an environmentally friendly alternative to remote-start. By eliminating extended idling of the engine to heat the passenger compartment, Webasto’s preheater greatly reduces emissions and fuel consumption while increasing safety and security. Your winter drives will never be the same. Webasto heaters deliver the same level of comfort you get when you are into your warm home and out of the cold. Webasto heaters preheat your engine, defrost your windows, and warm your interior before you even start your vehicle. i had the dash mounted display pad for programming times to turn it on like a alarm setting... now there is the key fob, and the ability to turn it on thru your cell phone... http://www.webasto-usa.com/webasto.jpg http://www.rd-automobile.de/uploads/...r1533gr_01.jpg http://www.rd-automobile.de/uploads/...ssel_lo_01.jpg http://www.rd-automobile.de/uploads/...y_v1_lo_01.jpg |
