Which tune is better

ecutek or uprev. And please tell my why.

Which tune is better

There's plenty of threads on the two. Ecutek has more options, but fewer tuners. Uprev is more limited, but cheaper and there are more tuners for it.

From what I was told...

Uprev for AT.

ECUtek for MT because it has launch control and is best for MT/Boosted Cars. AT cars wouldn't see that much of a difference.

For a NA car with no mods both will give roughly the same output.

For FI you have much more control with EcuTek.

Makes no difference if your car is AT or MT.

EcuTek has more features, TC being one, which is miles better than the standard 370z TC and worth it for that point almost in itself. It is more expensive but in the UK its now recommended over UpRev even for none FI cars.

yup i have read all the threads on both on this site. the reason I am asking now is most of the thread were a couple of yrs old and ecuteck was new and in some of the threads they hadn't even released all of the features for the 370 yet. So thanks for all the input. By the way my car will be modified then i will get the tune.

I don't think you read all the threads on this topic. And just because the thread was started several years ago, doesn't mean there aren't relevant and recent posts at the end of the thread. Plus, there are numerous threads less than a year old created by people who made the switch from Uprev to Ecutek :twocents:

Chuck pretty much gave you the low down. Not much more to say that hasn't already been posted :tiphat:

All right there big guy you win. I'll have to find more info from past threads.

The other thing to keep in mind is that any software is only as good as the tuner. If there is a good local shop that prefers one over the other and the other option is someone with no experience with the platform, go with the experienced guy regardless of software. The difference between the two on a NA car isn't so great that you should be someone's Guinea pig.

After personally tuning my 370Z with both, the amount of options that ecutek has is very very impressive. If you have a tuner who knows what hes doing he can virtually get it to do whatever you would like with all the custom map definitions you can play with.

IE, closed loop fueling, internal boost control (if FI), any limiters your would ever want to set. I deal with a bunch of custom tuning platforms (usually in the diesel truck world) but the amount of options they have in there make me really wish they supported diesel trucks haha.

cooltoy 04-14-2016 12:21 PM

So there is a tuner for both in Edmonton?

Mitco39 04-14-2016 01:16 PM

I have personal experience tuning both. Since I am not setup as a vendor I dont want to say anything more (I should see about getting vendor status if I every slow down and have some more time to invest) but many of you already know I do custom tuning in the diesel world for a living.

So, if I wanted a tune, I could come up and see you?

I live in Austin, and am very close to the UpRev headquarters. Has anyone in the Austin area actually had them tune their 370? What was your experience?
